'Yep, he would be more expensive than Chapman by a good bit, but the good thing is that the Royals farm is pretty bad right now and basically all their guys are having bad years. So the Dodgers could potentially pull off more of a depth deal than necessarily one that is top heavy. I wonder if Holmes, Thompson, Calhoun and Sborz could be something where they think about doing a deal.

 

That whole "I just woke up from a nap so I don't remember the conversation" thing looks pretty bad as the Owner, Team Pres, GM, Coach and his own agent were on a conference call with him to make sure they were all on the same page and that he understood what it meant to be a part of the Cubs organization. When you are trying to correct what is getting to be known as a piss poor attitude, this is not a way to get off to a good start.

 

And they have to finagle because they don't really have the farm system/depth to be players in this market.

Don't underestimate Sabian. He's gotten teams to bite on crap before.

 

The more I think about it, it probably wouldn't be, I wonder if an Oaks or Stewart on top of that is enough. That isn't a deal where you are getting a surefire star, but each player has significant upside and fit the Royals style. Potential front line starter, athletic platoon OFer with everyday upside, High contact +bat at 2B who could move to DH if D doesn't pan out, back rotation starter with back end bullpen stuff if rotation doesn't pan out, then Stewart or Oaks are flashing middle of the rotation potential right now. Seems like a solid package for a reliever.

 

I'd prefer to see them go down in flames with Chapman than without considering what they gave up.
