Because he'll probably get a 5-year deal as a FA. He's gone if they can get Davis or Miller.

Because they'll sell us Montas as a cheap replacement and the guys who worry so much about "their" money will buy it.

    There's a fog upon LA.
And my friends have lost their way.
We'll be over soon they said.
    Now they've lost themselves instead.

Yeah, well you better brace yourself for something like that bc if last year's deadline and FA moves proved one thing it's that they're apt to ignore the obvious and disappoint us......again..

Because the tankees traded Chapman, they are hanging on to Miller for next year.
That may be true, but I would rather have a permanent spot for Urias and let someone like Norris bounce in and out of the rotation as McCarthy heals, gets hurt, heals.
I don't think so. Most of Montas career has been as a starter, and all this year Montas has been starting. I think MGT is pushing Montas and Cotton as starters.

BTW darth......signature is awesome. I totally remember hearing Vinny say something to the affect of "Friends, don't read his lips, he is saying fertilizer, fertilizer, fertilizer.....", makes me laugh every time!!!!

Like I have always said I'm old so wishing for time to go faster isn't what I like to do so with that being said August 1st get here ALREADY!!!! (I know there is another non-waiver deadline). I've seen Alex Verdugo play only in snipets but he's very smooth in CF and he is hitting and I believe his game plays in the majors so to include him in a trade even for a proven commodity is going to be hard for me to accept. I know not the correct thread but look at Belli's power in this report. http://www.truebluela.com/2016/7/28/12310162/cody-bellinger-minor-league-report

    Any news on Montas, anyone???

Rosenthal saying the Dodgers want to get more LH makes no sense, Pederson, Seager, Gonzalez, Grandal and Utley seems like more than enough LHH.

Twitter is down, otherwise I would share the tweet.

According to rumors the Yankees have asked about Chris Sale. They aren't considered front-runners, but what I find interesting is that they had no problem trading Chapman before they even decided whether they are buyers or sellers. They still haven't decided. Maybe Chapman was a douche? Or maybe they realized there isn't much value in 3 closer-quality guys beyond media hype?

Traded from an area of strength with Betances/Miller and got a good return. Maybe there was something else there, but I thought it was a smart trade by them. Sale's age and friendly contract makes him a potential trade target for a win now team or a team rebuilding to be honest.

Bad comparison. That was 7 years ago and Halladay was 32, had about 2000 innings pitched, and was in the league 11 years by then. Sale on the other hand has only been in the league 6 years, is 4 years younger than Halladay was, and has only 1000 innings on his arm. NO in 2009 you would not trade Kershaw for a "back side of his career Halladay". YES in 2016 you do trade Urias for "in his prime" Sale. This article in fact makes the case for MGT to trade for Sale. Look at Halladay's stats, he only played till 2013......14-16 years (variance if you don't count 2 of his first 3 years). Look at Kersahw.....this is his 9th season. Realistically how much longer do we think he will pitch at this level. 5 years at best IMO....so we need to get him help ASAP.

Also, to boot, when Kershaw came up there was not another pitcher behind him of his caliber to fall back on.....with DeLeon we have that.

True with respect to his prime to some extent but remember there are a few key similarities. Win now being one of the them at the price of a top pitcher and by all accounts Urias has the albeit potential only to become a Kershaw. Plus the offense was real good then and now not so much and even with Sale I'm not sure we win it all this year given the Cubs overall strength. Not giving up but being realistic. The other thing is by all accounts Sale seems to be an enigma and a possible club house problem but that could change with a change of scenery. Only time will tell obviously.

Doughty......you are old enough to know that Pitching wins WS not hitting. The Giants have proven that for the last decade.

I agree that Urias is possibly the next Kershaw, and that would hurt to give him up, but realistically Urias is 2 years (not including this year) from actually helping us. MGT needs to stretch out his arm for the next 2 years just to give him the possibility of pitching 200 innings in a year. To date the most he has pitched is 80 in a year. If we can trade Urias now for Sale and make a run at the WS for the next 3 years I will do that in a heartbeat. My HUGE worry is that we keep Urias and run with Kershaw and our ragtag SP, which includes Urias getting shut down because of innings limit for the next 2 years, and then in 2019 we make a run at the playoff with a 12 year vet in Kershaw......who could be at the end of his career, much like Halladay was.
