We're in agreement on the gist of it - I don't want to see the team rest on their laurels either just because they finally won one. I want to see them make acquisitions and improve. But it's not because they weren't dominant this year, 60 games or not.

Yeah I'd be willing to wager that our FO is not pursuing the very expensive Nolan Arenado with the thinking in mind that, " we're already dominant. " 60 games or not - is definitely accurate, though, because we've seen this team dominate 162 game regular season schedules a few times here under Guggs. However, I believe we're well past the point of celebrating regular season exploits or at least we should be. Lasorda's not hanging on to his life thinking, " man, we were dominant in the regular season "

Adding Arenado would be a push for complete dominance..start to finish dominance. A push to construct a complete team that's dynasty worthy..one that doesn't fall behind 3-1 to what's essentially a new group in Atlanta, in a down year for MLB. We certainly know this..regular season baseball =/= postseason baseball..and we also know that nobody would've given a rat's ass about another great regular season without a WS win. And now we're hungry for more

If this were the 1 power move, I think it'd strike the right cord. Nothing against Lux's talent..his window really just doesn't match the team's push for a dynasty. At this rate, looks like Lux could find his footing in like 2022 or 2023 or something like that. I mean, like really grow into a player that can have a big impact against postseason pitching. Still, would hope that Lux doesn't go to Coors..hell, for his own sake. Want to see him stay healthy and do well and that place is hell. Think they can keep him out of that deal. But under circumstances where we land Arenado, I'd definitely send Lux out for a controllable lefty that could push Julio and fill in for Kersh if he needs it

But again, it's definitely not lost on me that it's Kasten's buddy - Bowden - that started this Arenado/LAD fire. Could very well be a message to Seager or Boras. And if it's made it to this stage before Thanksgiving, yeah..we may well have fireworks at Xmas. Fairly 0 to 100 here. Probably only a matter of time before we hear about Lindor..unless LAD perhaps thinks it'd piss off Arenado and slow his interest in pushing for LAD on the backchannels. Have no doubt that Arenado wants to be a Dodger..would probably have his buddy and our old friend Trayce at a lot games

A very very small move but Hunter Renfroe got DFAd and I wouldn’t mind the Dodgers getting him as a bench bat. With Enrique gone and possibly Turner, I think we need 2 righty bats. One of them a starter (probably Turner) and one of them a bench guy. Our bench depth is very left handed (Beaty, Rios, McKinstry, Lux) with Taylor the only righty “bench” bat. Renfroe destroys destroys destroys lefties and should come cheap enough you can DFA him. He’d be a good bench bat and also turn into a platoon situation if anyone gets hurt. DJ Peters is probably the closest right handed position player in line for some playing time but this provides added depth

I’d be surprised if Dodgers don’t add at least 2 right handed bats this off-season. And if there’s a DH, maybe 2 righty 1 lefty

What happened to the Lindor speculation. Did that all die with the Arenado talk?

It’s because Dodger/Lindor trade rumors are old enough to vote. If Arenado is on the table, I have to imagine Lindor and Kris Bryant are on the table too.

A dynasty requires sustained success. How does Lux not fall under that time frame? If you trade him you lose him and probably an existing star to cover the cost of Arenado. I'm ok with trading Lux but not for a Nolan.

Exactly. Adding Nolan, but losing Seager after next season, Lux, and more, and taking on the big contract may help us in 2021 but does not set us up for dynasty any more than we currently are.

Seager just won WS MVP. If you manage him correctly, he can last 162 and the post season. He’s also young. I don’t understand the desire to jettison him or demote him after his successful year.

I think the Dodgers have the right mix of experience, young talent, and up and coming youngsters to have longer term success. Pitching is where I think the most improvement can be had.

When everyone is starting to get long in the tooth and the minor leagues have given up their young, that’s when you pay the big bucks for multiple talented players who maybe looking for a WS chip.

Dodgers have already done sustained success. A dynasty requires championships....rattling off 3 WS titles in 4 years or 4 in 5. Something like that

Seager made his postseason debut in 2015 and had exactly 1 strong postseason series up until 2020. Similar can be said of Belli, except his playoff debut was in 2017. Both of these dudes had MVP caliber campaigns as rookies, but took years of failure in the post before finding their way this year. Is Lux about to throw together an MVP caliber rookie year? Is he a more advanced spec than those 2? How long before he's able to have strong showings in the postseason? These are reasonable questions to ask for a team that wants to win at least a couple more WS over the next few years. But at the end of the day, we agree. I don't want Lux traded for Arenado either

That is all just quiet right now, but there is speculation that the Dodgers are involved there and a few Cubs reporters are saying that the Dodgers have also been kicking around on Kris Bryant.

Could potentially play the ROX, Tribe and Cubbies against one another. A little leveraging can't hurt when dealing from a position of power like LAD is

Maybe the prize ends up being Lindor? As much of a cocksucker as Peter Angelos is, he did eventually cave and send Machado over to us

2B gonna be interesting next year. Lux is obviously the top prospect but you wonder how the Dodgers rate him. They also have Michael Busch, who is 23, and getting RAVE reviews (was a clear favorite as best hitter scouts saw at instructs in Arizona recently)

    he’s a 2B, left handed...

somethjngs gotta give. If there’s one thing the FO is really good at, it’s identifying which prospects are worth holding on to and which you can trade away. Wouldn’t be surprised to see one of Lux/Busch be traded this winter for a good player

From what I can tell, Michael Busch is a 2B in the same way that Max Muncy is a 2B. Busch even has a similar build to Muncy. With defensive shifts and the hard slide rules, 2B has been nerfed quite a bit so we may see a lot of slower/hitter-first 2B thrive.

Rosenthal said that MLB and the Players are going to discuss the UDH at the beginning of the month. So we are still a couple weeks away before we could see the offseason speed up at all.

I mean, they also could see Lux as a $500K alternative to the SS question in a year from now. Busch is still probably at least 1.5 years away as his only in game AB's are Low A right now. Yes he got what sounds like some great experience this year, but there is still some importance over a lack of real game AB's. The only reason they move Lux at this point is if they have lost all confidence in him. It is hard to bat 1.000 with prospects, but with our new development team, that is what they have pretty much done (while moving guys before they fade). You can never have too many options and both Lux or Busch could also move to different positions if need be. We are going to be in desperate need of a cheap position player or two in the next couple of years.

lux throwing problems (although mostly yips) had me thinking it’s 2B or bust for him, but that easily changes

not a bad problem to have though

Lol Blake Snell is available... Dodgers really could trade for him. Probably with Lux so, who knows, but a rotation of Buehler, Kershaw, Snell, Urias, price would be funny.
Like I want Lux to be amazing as a Dodger cause the offense turns unreal with him

but they could also trade Lux for an elite player and run a similar offense as last year. But yoh kinda “tighten your window” which we don’t want. You want Lux to be the core of the next round of dudes
