I know many were throwing during the break, but is it reasonable to expect them to go from 50+ innings to 150+? If not, then I think it's necessary to keep all 7.

Can someone explain something to me? If Price gets $32M in each of the next two seasons, but the Red Sox pay half of it, that means the Dodgers or another team if he's traded has to pay $16M. Is that really considered high for a starter of Price's ability? I don't understand why the Dodgers would have to eat some of the contract to deal him - unless we're getting a real team-friendly contract in return.

Meanwhile, the Turner is clearly not a high priority for the Dodgers

The Mets are said to be interested in Justin Turner, but they are not close on years or salary. Seems like the dude really may be holding out for a big pay day.

my guess is la is his top choice by far, and he’ll only consider looking elsewhere if/when the dodgers are no longer an option

So I know nobody knows for sure, but what are people thinking - that the Dodgers have yet to make an offer to JT, or that they've offered 1-2 years and JT is holding out for 4?

Ruthless FO. I remember the whole situation in Boston with Veritek when they basically said, "Thanks for the memories but GFY!"

    Sad, but biz is biz.

    • Left-handed reliever Jake McGee is leaving the Los Angeles Dodgers to join the rival San Francisco Giants, agreeing to a two-year, $7 million contract, a source confirmed to ESPN's Jeff Passan. McGee, who went 3-1 with a 2.66 ERA in 24 appearances for the Dodgers in the pandemic-shortened 2020 season, could get ample opportunities to close with the Giants.

Thought this was the worst of last year's offseason signings.

    I was wrong.

Well, his basic stats were pretty good last year, but over the entire playoff run he pitched just 2.2 innings, so clearly he didn't instill a whole lot of confidence.

Everyone seems to think it is still going to be us that signs him as it does not appear that anyone is willing to give him the 4 years that he is asking for.

I love what the guy has given us, but in the last four years he's missed 32, 59, 27, and last year, 18 out of 60 games. That's 136 of a possible 546 games, or 25% of the 4-year span completely missed, and then in many other games he sat except for a PH appearance. Now granted, he still produced, and at least some of this is due to Davey's philosophy of giving guys days off, but if he only played in 75% of his games in his age 32-35 years, what would be reasonable to expect during his age 36-39 years? Yeah, I would be really surprised if he gets a four-year deal.

That said, you can't fault the man for asking.

    • The Dodgers have supposedly shown interest in Marlins COF/1B Garrett Cooper in trade talks... which then the Padres immediately called on as well. Cooper would be an interesting RH bat that had a solid 2020 (as well as career thus far) between the Marlins and Yankees. He was awful in a small sample size in 2018 after a decent 2017 debut where he had a similar number of plate appearances and decent in 2019 over 400+ PA's before breaking out in the shortened 2020 season, but once again it was a SSS. He strikes out a good bit, but has improved on that yearly and through his career has not shown a dominant hand split overall, though each season he has tended to struggle more so against one side than another. He showed up in a big way against the Cubs in their 2 game sweep in the playoffs, before getting wiped out by the Braves. Cooper was used solely as a DH and 1B in 2020, so the Dodgers could be considering him as a backup option in the event they do not get Turner to sign, then they will put Muncy on the other side of the diamond. Cooper has a decent UZR rating at 1B, so this would be an interesting cheap option.
    • Speaking of Cooper, the Dodgers are rumored to be working behind the scenes at potentially making a couple deals to lessen payroll and maybe add some depth to the farm system.
