Nope, he signed with Pittsburgh. Not a re-signing, as he was with Philly last season

Stanton gets the money he's worth though and it's still an opt out..he may not elect to do so. shoot, he may be traded to a better org before then.

I would assume it would be the 3rd year of the new contract. The contract would have a no trade clause, back2back.

    that wasn't being debated
the implication was that they could choose to trade him

the times, they are a changing...

Yankees and Red Sox shut out of MVP votes for first time ever
By Mike Oz | Yahoo! Sports Big League Stew -- 16 hours ago

A number of interesting historical tidbits came from Thursday's MVP announcement. Clayton Kershaw won in the National League, becoming the first NL pitcher since Bob Gibson in 1968 to be named MVP.

American League winner Mike Trout, meanwhile, became the fifth-youngest MVP winner, getting the award at age 23.

Two nice honors for the stars of L.A. Meanwhile, on the East Coast, the Boston Red Sox and New York Yankees, made a very different type of history.

They were shut out completely. Not that they didn't win — no player on either team got a single vote on any ballot. That had never happened before to both teams in the same season. Like ever.

Peter Botte of the New York Daily News did the research on this one, and ESPN Stats & Info later backed it up.

Each MVP ballot includes 10 players. Multiply that by 30 ballots and you see there was potential for at least someone to cast a seventh-place homer vote for Dustin Pedroia or give Derek Jeter a sweet send-off with a harmless tenth-place vote. It didn't happen. Bless you, Baseball Writers Association of America.

These players did get MVP votes, though — Lucas Duda of the New York Mets (eighth place), Devin Mesoraco of the Cincinnati Reds (eighth place and ninth place), Dee Gordon of Dodgers (tenth place), Albert Pujols (seventh place and tenth place) and Kyle Seager (tenth place).

Of course, the Yankees and Red Sox are used to being left out of 2014 parties by now. The 2014 season was the first time since 1993 that both team missed the playoffs in the same season.

Wtf? I love Seagar, but that's a fucking joke. Maybe say 2018 or 2019 and it might be, but that is stupid and ridiculous.

    http://www.foxsports.com/mlb/story/...over-up-manny-ramirez-failed-drug-test-111414
Biogeneis head Anthony Bosch reportedly told federal investigators that powerful sports agent Scott Boras attempted to help "fabricate medical records and concoct a cover story to explain a failed drug test by Boras client Manny Ramirez," two sources with direct knowledge of the claims told Newsday.com.
According to the article released Friday, Bosch said Boras arranged the meeting after Ramirez tested positive for banned substances in 2009. Boras, according to Bosch, came up with an explanation for the failed test that involved Ramirez accidentally using an elderly uncle's testosterone cream because he thought it was aftershave, the story related.

    http://sports.yahoo.com/blogs/mlb-b...ver-up-manny-ramirez-s-ped-use-233355173.html
It's noted that Bosch claimed neither he or his father, Dr. Pedro Bosch, a licensed Miami doctor who was listed as the prescribing doctor for Ramirez, kept charts on his clients, but that Boras asked him to create a chart for Ramirez that would list the women's fertility drug human chorionic gonadotropin, or hCG, as a prescribed medication.
Of course, hCG is also on baseball's list of banned substances, so there was nothing to be gained by its inclusion. Bosch indicates that Boras wasn't aware of hCG's status as a banned substance, which might seem a little out of character for an agent so fixated on details.
It's not immediately clear if Boras would face discipline for his alleged role in the Ramirez situation. Alex Rodriguez, Boras' most famous client, has been the poster boy for the entire Biogenesis scandal, yet this would be the first time Boras himself has been dragged into the eye of the storm.
Boras, for his part, has gone as far as denying he's ever even met or directly communicated with Bosch.

that is what no-trade clause means.

and then the end result is the same.
