So VRP, You are arguing the CAUSATION, not the result. I had to read your post a couple more times and after your added last sentence, the point is clearer.
I think he'd take that as a demotion and press even more. There's not much we can really do about it.
i really dont like donnies style. he picks up too much after torre. his philisophy seems to be when in doubt do nothing. this may be a conicidence but since mattingly has become manager our offense has been embarrassing. he has been the constant, trades have been made, hitting coaches have been changed even the ownership. he is the one that has overseen this embarassment
Torre use to kill relievers, bat Matt Kemp 8th, never get riled up about anything, and let coaches around him throw players under the bus. Maybe our offense has been shit with him, but this is gonna be the first full year he has more than 2 real hitters, so maybe we can wait it out a bit. He's not a God of a manager, and he does some questionable things, I just feel like going through millions of different coaches/managers in times of bad and putting blame on there takes away from the problem simply being the players.
^Agreed. They'll wait at the minimum until the end of the year when his contract expires. Which is the right way to go. You give him his chance, see what happens, assess the situation and decide whther or not to bring him back. The Guggs has been very generous, coming into the organization assuming everyone is doing a good job and will make changes if they see fit. A lot of new owners would have possibly ditched Ned, for one. Mattingley is a McCourt hire, so Guggenheim has yet to make that big stamp. But they can just wait an see.
