whew, this years FA class is Aaron Judge, the 3 big SS's, Jacob DeGrom, Kershaw, Verlander, Rodon, Edwin Diaz then a whole bunch of shit.

Do I blame him completely for this chokejob? No. This team and its high priced players had plenty of opportunities to put the padres away. Multiple times. When you're paid the amount of money many of these guys are, you have to earn that check. Doesn't matter who the Manager is.

Dave fucked up a few times of course. We all know he's not a guy that's gonna win us games with his decisions and that's one issue.

To me we still havent won a world series. Sure the covid season was nice but it's an Asterix to me. You can have all the analytics you desire but it doesn't matter with playoff baseball. Padres were inspired, we went through the motions.

The culture is that of choking and losing in the playoffs and the leader of this team has been the one constant(outside Kershaw) the past decade.

Time for someone that can inspire and motivate come playoff time.

I usually think that "one team wanted it more" is bullshit...but this is a rare case where I believe that to be true.

Dave has been given some of the best rosters in baseball over the past seven seasons, along with the best data and coaching around him. So his only job is to motivate and not make ridiculous decisions. He's failed in both areas.

There is part of me that wants to go back to being a fan, even if it will never be the same as it was. But it will never happen as long as Dave is there because I loathe him as a manager and human being. He is a useful idiot for the Marxists that have taken over professional sports. So, in a way, I was satisfied with the loss and hope the organization can start somewhat fresh.

Know it every year, at some point its gonna happen. And it would have happened either next series or the WS if we won this one. Covid season was an anomaly. At what point do we get a new guy in to change this choking/losing when it matters most culture?

Imagine getting the perfect ground ball with first and second and no outs. Muncy is like 2 inches away from this ball. He's playing in expecting a bunt on 2-1. If he's even 1 step back, this is either a double play or more likely a triple play

Is he playing in if it is a 1-2 count like it should have been. Tumpane called pitch 1 a ball and said it was outside after ringing up Chris Taylor up on a pitch at the same height that was significantly more outside.

Once they got on the BLM wagon back in 2020, and asserted Roberts as the affirmative action manager of choice ... I knew this organization was dead inside. But when you have Blue blood in your veins ... well... I can hate this team for what they've become but at least I'll never love another.

Cummulatively, created is the perfect format, absolutely and precisely the environment, for the best teams in a grinding, relentless sport, to not be there at the end of it all to represent the best of it.
Outside of the nauseating Astros, are the teams left representative of the best n the sport ?
The game has been diluted by FO on field manipulation and greed for the sake of greed, and controlled by blatantly inept umpires in a world where technologies can almost perfectly make it as completely fair as possible, but the fascade of "tradition" prevents the biggest and overwhelmingly needed ABS to be instituted to insure integrity, but instead you get bigger bases and a pitch clock.
I suppose as the old guy, the generational look back at what the sport has become, is tainted with the inevitable "back in the day" slant...no matter how an elder like myself tries to avoid it. Like your hair turning grey, then white. You can't realistically stop it...only fake it.
But with age and as a daily participant in watching a thing you loved for 162+ games a year, for decades, does give you somewhat of a wisened focus and ultimately, asking "who are these people in charge of this thing I've loved so all these many years now? And what are they doing to it"?
And, as what I percieve the answer to be, my answer anyway, the smile so associated with the many years of watching and rooting, is simply gone.
