I have Mookie going off tonight. Does well against Manea and is due to come out of this little slump he's in.

The one who's really bumming me out for the playoffs is Will Smith.

    OPS by Month:

    April .947
    May .963
    June .826
    July .726
    Aug .715
    Sept .644

Just had an incredibly weak AB with the bases loaded. As if he was trying to get out…

Horrible. None of the pitches he swung at were strikes.

Dodgers need him to get right if they're to progress in the postseason, especially if he's going to bat in that part of the lineup. Maybe he needs some time off to reset. Barnes is actually hitting more consistently than him right now anyway, and that says a lot.

He shouldn’t be batting third and truly has never been a 3 hitter but no way does Dave make that change this late in the season.

    kersh on the bump tonight
    his k/bb ratio is down
    but otherwise he's quietly 12-4 with a 2.52 ERA and 1.06 WHIP

Crazy that in all the years this game has been played, no leadoff hitter has more RBIs in a single season than one Markus Lynn Betts has right now.

I hear you, but something tells me he'll play one more season to reach 3000 K's. Unless they win it all, in which case he might want to go out that way.

if the Dodgers somehow win it all, If I were him, I'd want to be in uniform with the crowd full, opening day next season, the Dodgers raising a banner in front of an actual full crowd

I don't see the 3,000 as motivation for him. My heart wants another year from him. My head says he should ride off into the sunset, especially if our boys somehow win it all.

Like to see him get his 40th. The cherry on top of a great season.

Just could be that the fractured rib ( or whatever it was), allowed to be someting that was unknown to fans, and Smith playing pretty regularly with it, has rendered this result. With an altered swing, intentionally or not.
And God knows the lasting result and what it could be.
Can't help thinking that letting it heal totally, then bringing him back would benefit all involved, for the bezt results.
