    We went into the year knowing
    3B: Garbage
    1B: Cautiously optimistic about a guy we've been waiting to come around for a long time
    SS: A rookie who is not that good but has the potential to become something worth while with his speed
    2B: nothing mcuh offensively
    LF: Not much
    CF: An MVP candidate
    RF: An All Star

    The Goal remains to hover around .500 until we can make some moves. We are getting a bit spoiled by a hot start. We've played nobody really. Once Kasten gets here, there need to be IMMEDIATE changes. Dump the garbage. Make a move for an impact infielder. Something.

    Also can Lyons stop saying every defensive player on every team is a great defender. He was raving about Jed Lowrie's defense who's universally regarded as a terrible defensive SS. Not everyone is a great fielder Lyons. STFU.

    Yes and ouch. A number of players may have minimal value and still be under contract for another year. All five starters are signed for next year and we still have Ruby D to come back for 2013 and want Cole Hamels etc etc. Will the new owners want to eat 20-30 million to create roster spots?

    Mark Ellis and Juan Uribe are signed for 2013 at a total of 12.5 million. Could be hard to unload that without eating the salary. Dee and Sellers are young, do you give up on them? Hairston is signed for next year at 3.75 million. Loney isn't signed so unloading him is easy if things don't pan out. Adam Kennedy isn't signed so letting him go is limited in dollar cost.

    May 1st. Everything comes down to that and afterward. Magic and Co. need to make big changes if they want to give us a chance this year. Get rid of Ned and find someone who gets baseball. The way Ned goes about business is just pathetic. We're the Los Angeles Fucking Dodgers. Just because Sabean fluked his way to a championship doesn't mean the same will happen for us.

    that is where we differ in our basic nature. I try to anticipate what can go wrong and how to manage it if it does. With Rivera it just isn't injury but age and body weight. Rivera had 466 bats last year and seemed in the eyes of a few folks to tire at the end of the season. He still has no homeruns this year and his average is now down to 260 and the season is young. Will he get hot yes will he hold up? hmmmmm to be determined

    I agree, outside of the brewers, we've played shit. But also, I think the national league is shit. Sure the phillies pitch good, the cards are good and the Nl east has some tough matchups

    But their is a lot of shit in the NL so concerns about not facing the padre or Astros might be lower

    Plus, we just have to be .500 in may and June after a great April and we will be good enough to make some moves in July

    I'd just straight up dump Uribe. Will we still have to pay the fat fuck? Yeah, but it'll be worth it to actually get a player that can help. Mark Ellis isn't flat out horrible if you can get a a Wright type of player (maybe Wright himself if everything works out. An upgrade at third base makes up for a lot of crap we have with Dee (not counting Sellers because he isn't a starter)

    Lyons isn't sure why DBB doesn't use Elbert more. It might be because he hasn't thrown a strike in 4 years.
