That is not the right way to tank.

 

Hypothetical trade from the news...

Lakers get: Terence Ross, DJ Augustin, CJ Watson, Mario Hezonja, Damjan Rudez, Stephen Zimmerman
Magic get: Larry Nance jr, Jordan Clarkson, Loul Deng, Timo Mozgov.

Most of the veterans can be used for other trades down the line if not cut.
The young players can go to the DFenders and get trained up.
Looks like they are outside shooting white guys which fit the new style. Maybe they can be polished into nice role players.
Sucks losing Clarkson and Nance jr but Jim's non lottery gems have to be sacrificed so Jim's horrible FA sins can be absolved.
Gives the Lakers a lot more flexibility going forward so they can replace Nance and Clarkson with better FA.
Besides Clarkson already is getting paid handsomely and Nance would soon be into FA as well. So best to move on now.
There will be more money to throw around

And Terence Ross would be a good guy for Ingram to spar and learn with in practice. Ross would be a nice backup for Ingram too.
Augustin and Watson may be tradeable next playoff race if a team loses a PG down the stretch.

I like Ennis and think he should be the backup PG next season.
The Lakers should draft a PG like Ball and have them attempt to hold down the position. If not Russell is always there to help. They will most likely be stuck with Augustin for a long time and as such is not bad for deep bench.
Russell should move permanently to SG though. And Nwaba can help out defensively as a backup since that is Russell's weakspot.
Ingram and Ross would control SF unless we get Paul George or another SF type.
Star PF/Randle then Ingram/Robinson as deep bench.
Randle/Zubac then Black/Robinson as deep bench.

This team can easily keep going without Clarkson and Nance without losing much that cant be adjusted and recovered if not improved.

I think they already have. PHX won't win another game this year. They know how to tank properly. Look at that losing streak.
