Whiteside's the exact opposite of what Luke said he likes, a horrendous pick and roll defender that gets exposed anytime he's on a wing or PG. Also a non-shooter. Horford fits that mold better.
No older than Aldridge when they went hard after him last year. There's still a place for a Whiteside as a shot blocking presence in the paint, don't wanna come across as a Whiteside hater, just saying. And he doesn't really fit in a free-flowing offense either. Wouldn't be mad if LAL signed him, I enjoy his game. Ian Mahinmi is a better pick and roll defender than Whiteside is, but still also has interior presence in the lane as well, also has the French national team connection with Batum and Noah. I wouldn't be mad if they signed Noah and Mahinmi for the price of one Whiteside TBH Don't really think Whiteside is getting away from Miami anyway. Thats my realistic wish list as well. If biyombo/Festus are gonna cost 17ish mil per you might as well throw a couple extra on top and go after whiteside. Noah could be a good back up option if biyombo proves too costly. Hopefully LAL can snag someone that can shoot and or play some D with the 2nd pick.
I'd take short term Noah over Festes long term. Festes (like Barnes) will be grossly overpaid. He's also got an injury history.
