It’s July 31st still
Brain freeze, thanks.
Will Smith getting his first start tonight. This is going to be an interesting audition(if the team gives him much of one) as the reports on him this year have been incredibly positive. I have not heard anything about a swing change, but he must have done something as his K rate is down 8% and he is putting the ball in the air A TON while also walking more in the process. Word was that AAA pitchers were well aware of a hole in his swing when he was called up last year which was part of a horrific introduction to AAA. His defense behind the plate is considered top notch with Keith Law even saying that he is gold glove caliber. He and Keibert Ruiz are turning into a really interesting pairing behind the dish.
not at all, they could turn out to be duds once they arrive
Kimbrel could become Darvish and then you are stuck with him and his 120M contract.
You think the Pollock deal is bad. Kimbrel wants to be the top paid closer. He is 31.
The same age Kenley and most other relievers and pitchers take dives.
Is it a smart move to give a max contract to 31 year old reliever who hasn't pitched all year?
Its not my money so I say hell yeah.
Then again I don't mind having Pollock around making his millions as the 4th OF.
Not my money. Baseball is baseball.
Dodgers should come in a day before and sign Kimbrel.
Give up the pick and surprise the other teams waiting to pass the deadline.
Secure Kimbrel before someone else makes him a better offer.
There is always risk. The difference is, Pollock didn't filll a need.
Interesting write up from BP behind a paywall about Will Smith. They think he is MLB ready, but probably not going to "wow" enough to take the reins from Russell Martin or Austin Barnes just yet. His game profiles as someone that will probably get abused somewhat his first time up by high inside fastballs and good breaking stuff before making adjustments down the road since that has been his M.O. in the past. They grade him out only as average behind the plate and his power profile takes him to an overall above average option as a catcher. He will likely hover in the mid to low .200's BA wise, but have a strong OBP and SLG to counter it. If he he can fix his woes with the high/tight stuff, he would profile as a "plus regular" at the catching position.
Will Smith batting 1.000, wow. What a stud. Hopefully he can keep it up for at least 2 ab's
that's no gold glove over at third that's for sure
id fucking kiss the hell out of Cody
but would you let him bend you over?
You have sick thoughts.
Here comes the bullpen
robots throwing in the towel on this one
Floro sucking is disastrous. He's the guy you trust here but man, he's looked shaky
its like the only guy he calls on now
in theory, bringing in Alexander here is good cause you need a lefty and a ground ball BUT... Alexander has let me down way too much
Man, imagine where this team would be with a halfway decent bullpen. Fucking Friedman shit the bed in his first offseason running the show himself.
Separate names with a comma.
