Puig was fine last year playing the full season, Crawford hasn't played over 130 games since 2010. Maybe Puig is tired, or like LA96 said maybe it's his hip (which I doubt as well because he tore the shit out of the ball in July and this was after the hip injury) Or maybe, it's just a slump that players have. Hitters are streaky, they go in and out of slumps. It happens to all of them, and Puigs is happening right now. I think he'll get out of it, just needs the at bats to get out of it.
Sure but for how many years? Three years at 15 million per year is not what he probably wants. Coming back on a tender while a little less next year might yield a more lucrative and longer term contract.
When discussing what outfielders should be playing this year and next, folks might want to compare their stats and see which one is leading in home runs and runs batted in. Could be batting average soon also. Really want a dramatic comparison try these post all star game stats and decide for yourself who the fixture on this team is and what position is theirs to keep them a fixture. http://mlb.mlb.com/stats/sortable.jsp#elem=[object Object]&tab_level=child&click_text=Sortable Player hitting&game_type='R'&season=2014&season_type=ANY&league_code='MLB'§ionType=sp&statType=hitting&page=1&ts=1409699432672&team_id=119&playerType=ALL&position='O'&timeframe=posas&split=posas&last_x_days= Right Field is Kemps unless DBB is really Dummy BaseBall as some like to call him. If Joc performs he may become the fixture in Center and that will leave Puig to get his act together and compete in left. Forget the outfield just compare the following team hitting stats since the break. From the right side of the plate it is all Kemp with no one else close and from the left side it is AGon with no one else close. That is fixture material. http://mlb.mlb.com/stats/sortable.jsp#elem=[object Object]&tab_level=child&click_text=Sortable Player hitting&game_type='R'&season=2014&season_type=ANY&league_code='MLB'§ionType=sp&statType=hitting&page=1&ts=1409699574245&team_id=119&playerType=ALL&position=&timeframe=posas&split=posas&last_x_days= Check out the post all star stats for Hanley and along with his less than average defense he is a candidate for how much in free agency with his injury history? How much and for how many years? Also consider the reputation he came to the Dodgers with and is his at bat demeanor helping him or hurting him as seen through the eyes of other general managers.
no, actually Puig was wearing down last year too. they've reported on that a lot over the last week or so. his playoff performance was a pleasant surprise. regardless, Crawford's used to playing more games than Puig is. he's a long time vet
that's all good, but Puig's arm belongs in RF. Kemp just needs to sftu and play LF..he's not that good a defensive player and his arm is certainly not Puig-level. he needs to get over it, get comfy in LF and swing the bat well
So u say, I have a hunch just a hunch that management might not agree. At any rate those are decisions beyond our pay grade.
i don't know how..Joc hasn't been introduced into the equation on an everyday level just yet. look, bro..you have to admit that Puig's arm is a major weapon for us in RF..making baserunners beware of going to 3B at all times. it is what it is. Kemp's not a 5 tool stud. Puig is.
it just has to be. my thing is..Kemp can't be whining about it. for the good of the team, just get over it and swing the bat well. if he complains and demands a trade because they want Puig's arm in RF..i guess he'd have to go. because no way should he be in CF or RF over those other two. and yea, for 2015..i don't want this discussion to confuse people and think we're talkin about right now.
Wanna see Joc in that outfield hop at the end of the game while Kersh high-fives A.J. and I Love L.A. plays in the background.
His numbers went down a bit at the end of last year too. I'd give Puig like 3-4 days off in a row like a mini all star break then throw him back out there regularly
I can't see 6 OF's being on the post-season roster. I understand we only need 4 starters and that leaves room for another player, but not a sixth OF.
