Puig returns, all learned and humble, prostrates his fine self across the alter of the Plate and delivers a vengeful beating to misguided vaGiant fans everywhere.

    "Praise the Lawd" and "Hallelujah"

Step right up brotha Puig and grab a piece o'pine

We got us some history to make

Oh wow I missed the trade where Matt Kemp .262/.296/.478/.773 and a suitcase full of $$$$ were swapped for one rather pedestrian non bloomer journeyman named Hector Olivera, of the shit stained Olivera's pulling a mighty .211/.238/.263/.501 line. :laff:

Damned Padres couldn't get rid of Kemp's whiny malcontent lazy ass soon enough.

Nerdco must have been chuckling to themselves that day :kickpadres:

Could Dodgers' rotation soon call on De Leon?
    by Ken Gurnick | MLB.com

LOS ANGELES -- With the Dodgers' starting rotation being decided on a day-to-day basis, manager Dave Roberts on Friday announced that Julio Urias would start Saturday against the Cubs, and Urias just might be followed on Sunday by Jose De Leon in his Major League debut.

And in an unusual move, the Dodgers optioned No. 1 starter Kenta Maeda to the Rookie-level Arizona League, whose season ends Sunday, allowing Maeda to be recalled to pitch Monday for the Dodgers in Denver.

An optioned player is frozen in the Minors for 10 days, or until the Minor League team's season ends. This loophole makes room on the roster for Brock Stewart, who was recalled to serve as a long reliever should the Dodgers get a short start over the weekend.

Manager Dave Roberts has not announced a Sunday starter and De Leon is scheduled to start Sunday for Triple-A Oklahoma City, hence the speculation of his promotion.

Despite the avalanche of injuries and corresponding roster moves in recent weeks, management has resisted promoting De Leon, the 24-year-old ranked as the club's No. 2 prospect by MLBPipeline.com. Calling him up for a spot start and sending him back down would have burned an entire option year, which is the most likely reason he hasn't been promoted yet.

In 15 starts this year at OKC, De Leon is 6-1 with a 2.86 ERA, a 0.979 WHIP and 98 strikeouts in 78 2/3 innings.

As for Maeda, he will be pitching on five days' rest and the Dodgers have maneuvered his rest to replicate his routine in Japan. Maeda has had success at Coors Field, going 2-0 with a 1.50 ERA, 13 strikeouts and one walk in 12 innings.

In the other move announced on Friday, catcher Carlos Ruiz was activated following his acquisition on Thursday and Shawn Zarraga was optioned back to Triple-A.

I'm excited for De Leon but having him debut against the Cubs opposite of Lester is scary lol

No way, where'd you see that? That seems awfully soon, I had read middle of September

Would rather they give him more time in the minors tbh

Vasseh said it on the radio last night. He's annoying, but a source closer to the team than anyone. So I believe it.

Interesting. It is when rosters expand so that makes sense, just would think they'd want him to have as many at bats as possible since he's having a delayed spring training pretty much

    Offseason plan.
Use the money slotted for Kenley to Aroldis Chapman
Use the money slotted for Josh Reddick for Danny Valencia and Ian Desmond.
    Retain old man Hill.

Valencia and Desmond are specialists against left handed starters but can carry their weight against righties too.
While not being gold glove defenders by a long shot they have range enough and experience to play multiple positions which our FO likes.
Desmond has played most of his career as a SS. Not good but can play it in a pinch while providing a live bat.

Adding those two would bring a lot of balance to the lineup without breaking the bank.

"The Twins were in no rush to trade Santana, pointing out that Santana’s remaining contract (basically, a two-year deal with an option) would make him a very attractive trade candidate amidst a weak free agent market next offseason and declaring that the Twins have no need to move Santana’s salary".

    SVS having surgery FYI.

That was at the deadline. Maybe things have changed since then.
They probably want some good prospects because Santana been playing great of late.
    We need more roiders.

@mlbtraderumors: #Brewers star Ryan Braun has cleared waivers, making him eligible for an August trade https://t.co/MYZuRa9q9b/s/1OQO

    Fwiw.

    He has a 141 wRC+ .318/.379/.557 this year.

If we didn't claim him, we didn't want him or maybe his $. But we looked into him before the non waiver deadline so maybe something creative can get done now that the lefty situation looks dire and Reddick has sucked

I like Howie he is a real nice luxury to have as a bench piece in case someone goes down.
But if you go into things with Howie Kendrick as your starting LF you are not doing it right.
If we can turn that spot into Ryan Braun we should jump on it.
