I suppose he's earned the right to retire how he wants. But that's a gut punch. I don't get why he wouldn't want to call last playoff run. Guess I'm being selfish but that sucks.

Maybe he's had enough...maybe he doesn't feel up to it.
Vinny may not be feeling so strong...

    Yeah. Maybe.
Was really looking forward to the slim possibility that he would call one last Dodger world serie .

I already said he has earned the right to retire as he pleases... Why are people acting like I'm dragging him out of bed by his ear and throwing him in the booth? Lol

A friend of mine went to a game this past month and told me he saw vin and that he didn't look to good.

As much as I want to hear his voice call one last playoff run, dude deserves to go out whenever he wants

    Roberts values contributions from rookies
by Eric Avakian | Dodger Blue — 16 minutes ago

After beginning their 10-game road trip by losing two of three to the Miami Marlins, the Los Angeles Dodgers rebounded nicely with a victory against the New York Yankees.

Los Angeles, however, was stifled by CC Sabathia on Tuesday night, and handed a shutout loss. The game was the second straight in which the Dodgers started a rookie pitcher. Neither Jose De Leon nor Julio Urias were particularly sharp in the Bronx.

De Leon managed to grind through five innings, while Urias was chased in the fourth inning. Five starting pitchers have made their Major League debut for the Dodgers this season. The club has also relied on rookie relievers and position players.

Without their contributions, Dodgers manager Dave Roberts believes the club would be far from the position they find themselves in, per ESPN’s Doug Padilla:

“We would probably be on the outside looking in, and right now we’re in a pretty good spot,” manager Dave Roberts said. “And a lot of it is largely from the contributions of these young players.”

The Dodgers twice this season started four consecutive rookie pitchers. Their last time doing so resulted in four victories, with each starter earning the win. It was the first time in franchise history such a feat had been accomplished.

Beyond what pitchers have stepped up this season, Corey Seager has been among the top performers in baseball. He’s the odds-on favorite to win National League Rookie of the Year, and entered the MVP discussion.

Los Angeles enters play on Wednesday with a four-game lead in the NL West, and their magic number to clinch the division (any combination of Dodgers wins and San Francisco Giants losses) down to 15 with 18 games remaining.

Didn't know Vin had a painful private life.
He does look tired, and the Irish "perk up and die' saying is well known to me, as many others about the Irish take on life are.
Very sad to contemplate these possibilities.
I do wish that Vin's farewell was in LA, though...not up in SF.
If that is a must win game, and it could be, let's face it, the emotional wave washing up on the team could be numbing.
I hope it's all in the bag by then...

I wish it was in LA too, but in many ways SF makes even more sense. Vin loves the Dodger Giant rivalry almost too much. Plus, if it was in LA us as fans would demand ceremony for our own selfishness, but in SF he can end more quietly which is no doubt how he would prefer to do it. Plus the LA fans can watch on TV and listen by radio without going to the game and figuring out how to hear Vin.

He's not that good but yeah, he'll be tough. Good thing is that he wastes a lot of pitches with his command so the plan should be to just stand there and let him beat himself
