Due to a misinterpretation of the rules, Mexico is being sent home from the WBC. AGon was up til about 4 AM protesting to MLB that the team was misled by an MLB official explaining what the said rule was on ties in the bracket(as were many reporters). Anywho, MLB has said they are standing firm, so Verdugo, AGon and Romo should be back soon.

Had a Pete sighting at the Mandalay Bay Sat. Carnival barker type was out in front of memorabilia shop touting Petey's appearance. I looked in and there was a line of one. I was tempted to go in and ask him for some hair care tips, but I thought better of it.

Made a few bucks, saw some hoops (Fresno losing to Nevada), saw a great concert (Kenny Wayne Shepherd) and burned a lot of brain cells I couldn't afford to lose.

PHOENIX -- Injured Dodgers shortstop Corey Seager is not expected to return to Cactus League action this week, manager Dave Roberts said on Monday.

I figured you meant Alvarez, no Sierra was always seen as a pen guy. I think the only reason the club had him work at SP was to get a better handle of his secondary pitches. I think the club has even said that he is a pen guy now.

Yasiel Puig is out of second chances with Dodgers
by Joel Sherman | New York Post — 78 minutes ago

Recently, Yasiel Puig broke the silence of an otherwise quiet Dodgers clubhouse by talking loudly and with animation on his cellphone before hanging up to scream a lewd suggestion across the room to teammate Joc Pederson.

So when the Dodgers describe Puig as more mature or in a better place, understand they are still grading on a curve. What they are not doing any longer, they insist, is being held hostage by his potential talent or popularity. The Dodgers plan to begin the season with Puig as their regular right fielder, but even as arguably his biggest supporter, manager Dave Roberts said, “My message to him was clear: If he is not performing or he loses his focus, he is going to create opportunities for others, but that is the way it is for everyone.”

That is not exactly true. Corey Seager or Justin Turner or Clayton Kershaw could stumble, and no one is taking their jobs. Puig is different. Not long ago, the Dodgers were marketing around him and were afraid of getting rid of him and seeing him blossom elsewhere. But his OPS has fallen every year from his breakout 2013 rookie campaign, from .925 to .740 last year.

The Dodgers sent him to the minors last August, and say he returned with a better swing and attitude. This spring, Roberts insists, “Yasiel is in the best mental and physical state I have seen him.” Puig is just 26 and has two years and $14 million left on his deal. Yet he is likely facing his last shot in Los Angeles with top prospect Cody Bellinger perhaps ready.

Not entirely sure if Alvarez is gonna be a starter either
Better odds may even be on Otani landing after this season and taking a spot in the rotation

Would Alvarez then become the best closer prospect?

It would really be a shame if he can't figure out his secondary pitches enough to be a starter. He seems to have started to put things together as the season rolled on and the ease in his delivery should lead to success with his secondary stuff. I see bits here and there every few days, but all it is about is just how fucking easy it looks for him to get to 100 MPH
