    So BA kinda likes this Mejia kid, what a steal that could be if he pans out;
Injuries, including a shoulder strain, cost Mejia all but 51 games in 2015. An above-average runner, he shows the pop to grow into an average hitter with 5-10 home run power, and he has advanced plate discipline for his age. He has a chance to be an average or even tick above-average second baseman who is a fringy defender at shortstop because of average actions and range, although he does have a plus arm.

Sounds like a solid pick up. Weiland was going nowhere fast in our deep system. I bet he's thrilled to be gone.

Nice trade. Again our FO is getting value where we need it while dealing from our depth.

BA brought up an interesting point while discussing the Weiland portion, that was not nearly as glowy for them, though it didn't thrash Weiland either. They mentioned that even though he seems to be one of the first lines of defense in the minors likely after Wood and behind 3 injury question marks(Maeda, Anderson and Ryu), the team still felt comfortable moving him. I know we still have significant depth, but of the immediate guys, Weiland still had the potential to work later in games than a Bollsinger and Frias could regularly show. I'm intrigued to know if this just them moving things around on the 40 man, or if something else may be coming close to fruition. Like has been said, the Dodgers have been in talks with the Rays in regards to their pitching abundance and things seem to be gaining steam for those Rays. I don't have a problem with the rotation currently constructed, but if they were able to add an arm like Orodozzi to maybe give Ryu an extra month or two to get ready and then eventually ship out Anderson in June, that would be kind of perfect.

Yeah I'm with dealing for Odorizzi
CK/Odorizzi/Kazmir/Maeda/Anderson is solid until Ryu is back
Don't know what that'd mean for McCarthy's return, don't care.
Can always make more moves when you line up this much system depth.

Crasnick reported this morning that the Rays are picking up steam on deals to start unloading their pitching(but not Archer).

Yeah Archer's contract is sexier than Sofia Vergara in her prime.
A 6yr extension worth 25MM, with 2 team options at the end of the deal that would carry him through his age 32 season. Smh
That's what you call an off the glass, 360, between the legs, no look, dunk using no hands by Friedman.
He killed it with that one, combined with these Kazmir and Maeda deals you can pretty much tell that he gets it.

    from dodgerblue.com....

REPORTER: "Has there been a guy you played against who turned out to be totally different than you expected once you ended up on a team together?"
MehCARTHY: "Howie Kendrick had given me fits throughout my career, so when I joined the Dodgers I expected him to be a mouth-breathing, drooling cretin, hellbent on ruining my dreams. Sadly, he turned out to be very nice."

    don't worry brandon
there are plenty of guys who have owned you
i'm sure one or two of them isn't as nice as howie

No expert on these things but once you get on the minors (or injury) waiting list, the margin of improvement becomes minimal. Assuming a set rotation, once you get past the first 2 on the replacement list you're pretty much just rolling the dice anyway. Sure, even a lesser arm can garner great results in the short term but it isn't likely that a long term solution will be found on that list. The long term fix will come from a Urias/de Leon type talent that isn't likely to figure in that list early in the season.

Dee Gordon signed a 5 year, $50 mil extension

(Please don't start a 20 page thread about the trade)

Pretty happy for the dude. Love the guy

Went from raw, stud prospect, to perhaps being a bust, to working his ass off and having a good year, to now perhaps establishing himself as a player to rely on

Easy player to root for and hope he continues to do well and doesn't get fucked by the Marlins (or, he comes back to us :) )
