He is an advisor to the owner and GM. Do you really think he has nothing to do with building a team that not only won a title but will sustain that success as long as he's there?

    Not a coincidence?

The key to their success is the MVP of the league, in which they drafted without the presence of Jerry West. He is a consultant, and he doesn't make the personell decisions anyways. He could leave tomorrow and they would still be successful for about the next seven years.

    LOL.

They key is the team around the MVP.

He isn't a Ned advisor. Or even a Tommy advisor. If they.....ANYONE asks Jerry West his opinion of a draft pick or collegiate player and they don't listen, they will fail.

I'd put money on it that every decision the GM makes is based on the Logo's teaching, advice or direct opinion with the decision on the GM.

Im a fan of Zimmerman, a solid #2. Losing zack would suck but if we add Zim, O'day, and Miller, we would be a better staff overall from last year.

I still have hope that they are eyeing Zimm for the 3 spot, while padding the rotation in case of failure of Ryu/McCarthy/young arm. I think they are still in the market for a legit #2, while knowing if they land Zimm he could hold down that spot if necessary.

    You gots to believe, bkitches.

This is my thought, the upgrade from Anderson (101 ERA+) to Miller (124 ERA+)/Carrasco(118 ERA+) etc, outweighs the downgrade from Greinke to Zimmerman assuming that he regresses to the prior 2 years (132 ERA+) to Zimmerman (110 ERA+). Where you would really see the upgrade is with Anderson getting 150 or so of those innings that Frias/Wood /Bolsinger pitched last year (101 to 95 ERA+). This doesn't even account for adding O'Day, which would obviously be a major upgrade in the 8th inning.

Now, I am sure we realize these things aren't mutually exclusive, it's not Zimmerman, O'Day and young controlled starter OR just Greinke, I am just saying I could deal with Zimmerman due to the resulting upgrades down the line from where they finished last year (Anderson not be being #3). I expect a trade for a young controlled starter, whether it's Greinke, Price or Zimmerman that they sign.

    This.

Was their any speculating about an essentially Gordon for Kendrick trade last year? No. What about McCarthy? No. Anderson? Nope. The only thing everybody saw coming was Rollins. Though we probably should have seen Anderson and/or McCarthy coming too, given the A's ties with Zaidi.

Point is, their will be a few things that happen that no one sees coming.

Heisey signs minor league deal with Nationals
By Eric Stephen | True Blue LA — 90 minutes ago

LOS ANGELES -- Former Dodgers outfielder and free agent Chris Heisey found a new home for 2016 on Saturday, signing a minor league contract with the Nationals with a non-roster invitation to spring training.

Heisey, who turns 31 in December, hit .182/.347/.327 with two home runs, two doubles and 15 walks in 33 games for the Dodgers in 2015. He started three games in center field, three games in right field and twice in left.

He also spent the bulk of the year going back and forth between the majors and Triple-A, and hit .241/.370/.495 with 15 home runs, 41 RBI and 39 walks in 66 games with Oklahoma City.

Heisey was acquired by the Dodgers from the Reds on Dec. 2, 2014 in a trade for pitcher Matt Magill. a Heisey made $2.16 million in 2015 and, with five years, 42 days of major league service time was eligible for salary arbitration again this winter, where he was projected by MLB Trade Rumors to make $2.2 million in 2016.

The Dodgers released Heisey in August, then reacquired him in a minor league deal with Toronto on Aug. 31, for the season's final month. Heisey ended the season on the 40-man roster, but after clearing waivers and getting sent outright to Triple-A on Nov. 6 the outfielder elected free agency.

In parts of six major league seasons, Heisey has hit .245/.301/.418 with 52 home runs and 63 doubles in 576 games, including 292 starts, and 1,524 plate appearances.

    • The Dodgers aren’t likely to trade Yasiel Puig this offseason since his potential is still so high, his contract is reasonably priced and he bring a right-handed hitting balance to an otherwise lefty-hitting outfield, Dylan Hernandez of the Los Angeles Times writes. The Dodgers would also be selling low on Puig in the wake of his disappointing 2015 season.
    • Olney also addresses the Puig situation in his previously-linked column, reporting that Dodgers upper management “is much more open to the idea of moving Puig than they would’ve been, say, 18 months ago.” If Puig is really a clubhouse problem, Olney feels the Dodgers should cut their losses and trade him this winter, since they’re one of the few teams with the financial muscle to not have to worry about getting the best possible return back for a sell-low player.

I say fuck that Dylan Hernandez noise...hopefully our FO is using him.
I'm with Olney...it's basically the same thing Dave Cameron said about not needing to get this extra-incredible return for Puig.
Potential's in the eye of the beholder.
There's also potential that he gets hurt again or that he could be even worse next year on a team where a large amount of guys don't even want him around.
I mean I don't think anybody would mistake him for somebody who's mentally tough within the lines.
The fact that guys wanted him to stay away after hearing the reports that he could return in late September is just more proof.
They need to make a decision on Puig soon.
Like before the winter meetings soon.
If CK doesn't want him I think potential free agent targets will raise an eyebrow on that issue.
Need to go ahead and dot that i and cross that t
Puig to ATL for Miller works if the CLE thing doesn't
Fredi Gonzales at manager is cubano, Olivera is there, they open a new park with the Puig sideshow in 2017, great for ATL.
Really both the Braves and Indians are good situations for Puig
Maybe the nerds have a little leverage there between those two teams
Maybe Hart will dig in and try to stick it to his old mates in CLE
Indians could use some wow factor in LeBron World too
