    per heyman...
    • The Nationals could have a potential edge in luring O’Day since his wife is a TV reporter working for a station in Washington D.C.
    • O'Day’s family lives in the Atlanta area, so the Braves could have some form of a hometown advantage.
    • Meanwhile, the Dodgers can probably offer the most money of the three.
imo, he's staying on the east coast

ATL, CLE, maybe Seattle or Oakland as well
A lot of other OF options to choose from in free agency for other teams too tho, so I'm not sure how good a return they can expect this particular offseason

That deal has to get done quickly on the A's side.
    That's a lot of value
Of course the contract is the key with Puig tho, so you weigh that against paying 5x the money for something a bit more solid.
Obviously different reactions to the results for different franchises.

    http://m.mlb.com/news/article/157911352/reds-jay-bruce-has-limited-no-trade-clause

I have no interest in Bruce, but his no-trade struck me as kind of odd.

MLB.com confirmed that Bruce has a limited no-trade clause that allows him to block a deal to eight clubs -- the Yankees, Red Sox, Athletics, Rays, Marlins, Twins, Indians and D-backs.

He names 6 AL clubs and 2 NL clubs which is odd because he's IMO more of an AL type player, he's pretty one dimensional really. Kind of a poor man's Adam Dunn with a little better fielding value. But what really seems odd is that he names the Yankees but not the Mets. Unless he really hates the Yankees, why not name both? If you don't want to play in NY then name both. I don't get it.

That's my guess as well. Could always pursue someone like Ryan Madson, 2/12 (+ incentives) his splits were identical (.205 R/L), so he isn't a Roogy.

Dodgers, Cuban OF Yusniel Diaz agree to $15.5MM deal
By Zach Links | November 22, 2015 at 4:17pm CST

The Dodgers have agreed to sign Cuban outfielder Yusniel Diaz to a $15.5MM deal, according to Jesse Sanchez of MLB.com (via Twitter). Furthermore, the Dodgers and Omar Estevez have agreed to a pact that will pay the infielder $6MM. Even though he’s only 18, Diaz has been known in Cuban baseball circles for years thanks to his offensive prowess while playing center field in Cuba, Ben Badler of Baseball America (subscription required and recommended) wrote earlier this year. In fact, as a 14-year-old in Cuba’s 16-and-under league, Diaz garnered the attention of scouts when he slashed .367/.519/.517 across 80 plate appearances. In his writeup, Badler praised Diaz for his athleticism, speed, and his production in Serie Nacional, where he faced competition at his own age level as well as veteran talents.

This is getting stupid. They need an Int’l draft and fast. The Dodgers can’t be allowed to get EVERY international free agent of value.

Urias, Diaz, Bellinger, Alvarez, Holmes, Verdugo, Hansen, and Leon all in the same 19-20 age group with Peraza and Corey just a year ahead. Nice

Dodgers, Cuban OF Yusniel Diaz agree to $15.5MM deal
by Zach Links | MLB Trade Rumors — 17 minutes ago

The Dodgers have agreed to sign Cuban outfielder Yusniel Diaz to a $15.5MM deal, according to Jesse Sanchez of MLB.com.

Despite having seen time in the corner outfield in the past, Diaz’s best position is center field and that’s where Badler sees him playing at the major league level.

Diaz likely would have been chosen as Serie Nacional’s Rookie of the Year in 2015 but that award went to another player after he defected from Cuba in April. In August, Major League Baseball issued a memo to all teams announcing that Diaz was free to sign. Badler ID’d the Dodgers as one of the logical destinations for Diaz at the time since they were one of the clubs that were already over their 2015-16 bonus pools and facing spending restrictions starting on July 2 next year. The Dodgers will be handcuffed from spending more than $300K on any international player during the next two periods, so they essentially decided to go out with a bang before entering their penalty period.

Estevez, meanwhile, “showed above-average power in games and solid raw power in batting practice,” Sanchez writes. While he doesn’t have the strongest arm out there, he does have good instincts for the second base position. The Dodgers’ int’l haul for the 2015-16 period has been rather expensive between Diaz, Estevez, Cuban right-handed pitcher Yadiel Alvarez ($16MM), outfielder Starling Heredia ($2.6MM), infielder Ronny Brito $2MM, outfielders Christopher Arias ($500K) and Carlos Rincon ($350K), and shortstop Oneal Cruz ($950K). By Sanchez’s count, the Dodgers have signed 28 int’l prospects since the signing period began on July 2.

    More likely...

There are a few reasons why the Dodgers have committed so much to the international market since the international signing period began. First, it's clear the Dodgers want to reload their farm system with as many top international players as possible in the hopes that these prospects will develop into Major Leaguers in three to five years. Second, there's also the possible implementation of an international Draft and a completely new system for acquiring international talent under the next CBA. The unprecedented wave of top young Cuban talent on the market has also impacted the landscape.
