A 5yr contract doesn't run Greinke through the age of 38.
He'll be 36 at the end of a 5yr deal.
It'd fuck the whole system, but I'd offer 5yrs/160-165MM
Just ultimately beat the Giants' cash offer
If SFG goes 6/180MM ( highly doubt it), then LAD should go 5/181MM

Rosenthal said Kapler is going to join Roberts on his staff, and Gurnick had an article where he said Geren is the favorite for the bench coach job.

There's about 4-5 openings on the staff so still plenty of names to come

Sources: Bob Geren leaving #Mets to become #Dodgers’ bench coach.

So yeah, Geren as bench coach and if Kapler is on the staff I bet it's at first or third base

Kapler as bench coach would be pretty retarded. What's the point of leaving the farm director role to not become manager? And further more puzzling to me would be why give Roberts a bench coach with even less experience then he? LMAO

    Ok NVM Geren it is

Kinda mixed, I heard good things about his time in New York, but also heard how he was one of the worst managers in Oakland.

    Kinda uninspiring hire

But then again I didn't really care for Wallach either so whatever

@MarcCarig: Geren a loss for the Mets. Worked extensively with the catchers, gave TC a different perspective in dugout.

Apparently he's a big numbers guy too, so maybe this is a good hire

Which made him a match in Oakland because they're obviously big on metrics there.
Byrnes has his guy ( Roberts), Friedman has his guy ( Kapler), and now Zaidi has his guy ( Geren)
The FO should be fairly in tune with the dugout

To get experience as a first base coach; not bad to get some MLB coaching experience if he really wants to manage. He's maybe taking the Dave Roberts path

Fuck Kapler. Fucking over tanned cabana boy.

Find a guy that was not only a smart base runner, but also a good base stealer and put him at first base.

    mas...

The Mariners have reached agreement on a major league deal with reliever Justin De Fratus that will pay him $750K, Jon Heyman of CBSSports.com reports (Twitter links). Bob Dutton of the Tacoma News Tribune reported yesterday on Twitter that the team had interest in the free agent. De Fratus, 28, was outrighted by the Phillies at the end of the year after putting up a disappointing 5.51 ERA over 80 frames. But De Fratus logged a 2.39 ERA in a 52 2/3-inning 2014 campaign, with 8.4 K/9 against 2.1 BB/9, and Seattle obviously feels he has the capacity to return to that kind of form.

The Braves have agreed to a one-year contract with Gordon Beckham that will guarantee the longtime White Sox infielder $1.25MM, reports Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports (via Twitter). The Relativity Sports client can earn an additional $500K worth of incentives, tweets MLB.com’s Mark Bowman.
