not adrian, he wont get any PT at 1B.
and even though the salary on Stanton is huge there is no rule that says that the marlins should take back bad salary when they are shopping the best baseball player in the game for a trade
i would hope we could dump some salary on them, but if we cant I would still take Stanton either way

    198 to 196
Those 2 runs didn't help their 2-5 record against the Astros.

My point was that they're essentially equals, with the Yankees being way more built for the postseason. Obviously this is baseball and the Yankees could get swept and the Astros could win the World Series, but I'd say the Yankees are the better team right now.

Also for our sake, let's hope regular season record against specific opponents isn't important

But they're not essentially equals. What happens now in a small sample sized post season bracket is something else. Same story as always with MLB.

Odd how all year long, it was "depth above all else"...yet now in this new " let's get Stanton" frenzy that arises each year about another player we won't get, getting rid of all the depth, and then some, is no problem at all.
What about the future which was so secure because of the depth? Why no matter to get a guy who may or may not repeat what he did this year ever again?
But when another team trades away their premier prospects to get someone they are assholes and made a terrible move and gambled their future?

BTW, I'm OK with LAD's reg-season season H2H record against the DBags..6-4 against the DBags in starts by Kershaw, Hill, Darvish and Wood.
Not that reg-season H2H record means a whole lot, was just using the H2H there to show the difference those 2 runs made when HOU/NYY faced off this year.
We already know reg-season H2H's don't mean a ton..otherwise, LAD wouldn't have been stopped by STL the last couple meetings in OCT.
There's no exact science to October..KC rode their bullpen, Cubbies rode their starting pitching, Giants rode MadBum, Phillies lined up Hamels/Lee/Halladay and still lost, etc.
Think we all know that it's not at all unusual for October to send the best team home early..not that HOU is that, but they are one of a few teams that can lay claim this year.

I work hard to make money on my farm.
I put it in the bank to create depth for my family organization.
Then I spend that depth as I see fit.
Sometimes I go to the budget market.
For certain important items I go exclusively to the premium market.
Many times I go to the foreign markets for specialty items. Good deals to be had too.
It is best to get most of your shopping of various sundry items at the budget store.
It is smart to save money in order to create depth for when that special one of a kind deal appears in front of you.
That is how you can take advantage of your good fortune. If you dont have that depth then that opportunity is no longer fortunate.
For luck to work in most instances you must first be prepared for it.

Spending it is the point of putting it in the bank which is the point of working in the first place.
It is not about making money. It is not about the accumulation of assets.
It is about using what you have wisely to provide your family the best organization possible.
And using your money wisely is not being cheap. It is knowing that things change and being prepared for that change and anticipating the change in order to be part of the change and not get swept up by the power of the change.

Sometimes the wise move is to go all in, put your chips on the table, put your money where your mouth is, etc...

It is about being a poor pearl diver and finding a priceless pearl and selling all that you have to rent the high end gear that will allow you to recover that priceless pearl because it is priceless and regardless of how deep your bank account is or how much those assets could otherwise grow they will never match the value of something that is not generated by assets but is the result of perspiration applied to inspiration.
