I think the Yankees and the Indians are the best two teams in the AL so I'm intrigued

He's right up there with El Presidente and Zack Greinke in the diction department. He also sounds like a little girl and doesn't know anything about baseball. How he has a job in the second largest media market in the country is beyond me. Your theory isn't out of the question.

That's fine but the Astros lineup is better, their rotation is easily better, and they won 10 more regular season games. Only thing the Yankees have on them is their bullpen

Sure there will be salary going out from teh Dodgers, but thats not the important part of the trade. In fact it is immaterial to the discussion.
Salary is not important. This is not basketball. Salary offsets will most likely be included, but they are not viewed as assets so why include them?
It is not like the Marlins want Kazmir, Ryu, etc... they want the prospects.
And I have heard that they may want to trade Ozuna as well even though he is young.
So for a haul like that might as well back up hte prospect truck.
We wont be needing them for a while.
And they will have a top tier farm system after that.

Marlins have a very bad farm system and no depth.
We have lots of depth and a great farm system.
    It is a perfect match.

And I think the Marlins will want to go with a more american player focus going forward.
Stanton fits the bill as he is like Melo/Jeter only partially puerto rican but completely american.
But he wants out, its fair to send him out packing, mostly the Dodgers/Yankees are the teams financially who could easily take him, sending him to the Yankees will tarnish his reputation from the start the way McHale's and Larry Bird's tarnished themselves by helping the Celtics when they became GM's.
Bird went from a player who almost became a Popovich type in terms of how much love/respect he was getting from the media/players/league/etc... but then he started to double deal to help Ainge and he ended up an executive who nobody trusted including his star player who openly asked to be traded to the Lakers of all places.
If you grew up a Lakers fan and you ended up playing for Bird who you under your watch while you are trying to create a winning team and he keeps sweethearting deals to his former teammates at your expense AND they are all your childhood enemies. No wonder George did what he did.
    And practically retired Bird.

He is great... from the PoV of his employers.
    Which is all that matters.
His job is to deal with shitty fanatics.
And there are a lot of shitty fanatics that call into sports, politics, and religious radio.

His job is to report facts, be a conduit between the team and the fans, provoke thought, conduct compelling interviews, and entertain.

He does none of those things.

Astros certainly are the more complete club and offensively the shit's really not even close, whether you wanna talk their number of everyday studs in the lineup or the depth.
Their team wRC+ is absurd, they slug more than NYY.
Also, McCann's handling of HOU's staff >>> Sanchez's handling of NYY's staff, and yeah, the Astros' rotation is just better in general.
Verlander was a way better pick up than Gray was.
Yeah, the bullpen is the lone advantage for NYY here and that's just on paper..NYY's bullpen had yet to really come together and perform up to their potential before yesterday, so we'll see if that keeps up.

I fully believe that if we were to get Stanton that he'd blow out both of his hamstrings and never play again.
