Boras could be using the Dodgers and Giants to get the Phillies to panic and give in on the 3 year opt-out

Dodgers sign IF Brad Miller to MiLB deal. Interesting addition and the team needed more depth in the MIF. Miller is not far removed from being a solid bat.

Some not great news this morning on the Bryce Harper front. Bob Nigthengale is reporting that the Dodgers are now considered the favorites to land the all star OF'er. We should be hearing about Harper to the Giants any minute now.

Within the piece, he says that the Dodgers are still not talking 10+ year deal, but are offering something in the 5 year range at an AAV "well above" Greinke's $34.whatever AAV. He says the Phillies are under the impression that they were never really considered a possible destination for him. Giants and Phillies have offers of over 10 years.

Smh Rosenthal kicked him a little over his hate of platoons, put LAD's potential lineup up with Harper..after Belli @ 5, Muncy/Freese - Taylor/Hernandez - Barnes/Martin

So for me, 1B and C won't be full platoons unless something goes somewhat wrong. If Barnes is anything like he was 2 years ago, he is playing everyday(or as much as a catcher for the Dodgers usually would). That will not be a platoon by choice and they are not going to just come out and say, "hey, this dude that was like a .600 OPS last year is going to be our everyday catcher." Barnes absolutely needs to show this spring that last year was just a blip and not the new norm. If he can do that, he'll get 60-65% of the starts at C.

As for 1B, Muncy needs to show that those struggles in the 2nd half against LHP'ing was also a blip. He get's back to being the guy OPS'ing close to 1.000 against them like he was before the drop, he's gonna be out there everyday. If not, I'm cool with putting two guys at the position that OPS 1.000/.900 in platoon advantages and .900/.785 against same handed pitchers.

2B is kinda whatever for me. Hernandez out there everyday is just fine with me and the same can be said about Taylor, or if they want to platoon them, cool. We are not talking about a player that losses his shit when he has one or two days off, both Taylor and Hernandez are adept at platooning and have thrived in the situation.... not to mention they are very likely just keeping the seat warm until about August.

Muncy has to show that all of last season wasn't a blip, not just his 2nd half against LHP. He's not quite official just yet in terms of resume.

Agree on Kike. I'd like to see him there everyday and have a chance to build on last year. That was a good year for him and he's in his prime. I was going to say that about Lux as well, but didn't want to jinx it.

Don't know that Lux's stay in AAA will be a lengthy one. Mostly, I don't think moving him to the bigs and him having some struggles, would do anything to him other than make him better. He's already shown the ability to rebound without stepping outside of himself and who he is as a player. Attacked his development and just let success come to him. Excellent make up. Feeling pretty good about having Lux and not Delvin Perez

Roberts said there has been no change in Andrew Toles’ situation. The outfielder remains out of camp while attending to a “personal matter.”
“We’re still just letting Andrew take care of his personal issues,” Roberts said. “Again, we support him with whatever he needs to do.”

That was from Bill Plunkett, man it sounds to me like this kid is about to walk away from the game again....

Think maybe he got hooked on the meds he was given for his rehab? I know he had anxiety issues, right?
