I don't blame MIA for asking for the moon. The open market for catchers is trash and the position has taken a hit in general. And none of that is changing anytime soon, so they can sit back and just wait for thirsty bitches

They got essentially nothing for Ozuna, Dee, Stanton and Yelich so they’re probably trying to make good on that too.

Just wait until they trade him for next to nothing too. Marlins are a trash organization right now and will probly gift him to someone like the Giants for some third string 2B in the minors.

so, how’s it going over there farhan . . .

San Francisco Giants owner makes another controversial political donation
by Mark Townsend | Yahoo Sports — 23 November 2018
    [IMG]
San Francisco Giants’ principal owner Charles B. Johnson is drawing criticism again after contributing to a controversial political campaign for the second time in under two months.

According to Henry Schulman of the San Francisco Chronicle, Johnson and his wife, Ann, each donated the maximum $2,700 to the campaign of Cindy Hyde-Smith ahead of Tuesday’s runoff in Mississippi to determine the final Senate seat in the 2018 midterm elections.

Hyde-Smith, an incumbent Republican U.S. Senator, will face Democrat Mike Espy.

    WHO IS CINDY HYDE-SMITH?

In April 2018, Cindy Hyde-Smith was appointed by Mississippi governor Phil Bryant to assume the Senate seat vacated by ailing senator Thad Cochran. The appointment made Hyde-Smith the first woman to represent the state in the U.S. Senate. Before taking the senate position, Hyde-Smith served as Mississippi’s Agriculture Commissioner.

WHY IS THE DONATION CONSIDER CONTROVERSIAL?

Because Hyde-Smith has quite a history of making distasteful comments and engaging in questionable conduct.

Most notably, a video from Hyde-Smith’s campaign rally in Tupelo on Nov. 11 shows her joking with a supporter that she would gladly be his guest for a public hanging. “I’d be in the front row,” Hyde-Smith exclaimed. Hyde-Smith has since apologized for the comment, but not before losing support from several corporations, including Wal-Mart.

“Sen. Hyde-Smith’s comments clearly do not reflect the values of our company and associates,” Wal-Mart said in a statement. “As a result we are withdrawing our support and requesting a refund of all campaign donations.”

Hyde-Smith has also been seen wearing a Confederate rebel hat in a Facebook photo.

HOW DOES THIS REFLECT POORLY ON THE GIANTS?

For starters, it comes on the heels of Johnson’s reported $1,000 donation to a super PAC that produced a shockingly racist and misogynistic ad that supported Republican Congressman French Hill, who was running for re-election in Arkansas’ 2nd Congressional district.

Johnson quickly denounced that ad. The Giants also released a statement distancing the team from Johnson’s political viewpoints and donations.

According to public election filings, the donations from Charles B. Johnson and Ann L. Johnson were made nine days after Hyde-Smith’s original “public hanging” became a story. Many feel it’s something they should have been aware of and more sensitive to.

Johnson currently holds a 25 percent ownership stake in the Giants, giving him the largest stake in the team’s ownership group. That makes him a central figure in the organization’s all-around makeup.

As Yahoo Sports’ Jack Baer noted in October, Johnson is on record having made several significant contributions to conservative organizations in recent years. That in and of itself hasn’t been an issue until the recent connections to these controversies. But it could make for an awkward relationship going forward as San Francisco is among the most diverse and liberal-leaning cities in America.

No matter how politically incorrect they are, they still have three in their fucking pockets, and we are still sniffing the jocks of thirty years of winners, none of which is us.

I read a post last week about the nonstop need to bash Kershaw by a certain poster. This complaint came from the same guy who’s always whining about how they have 3 in 5... change the tampon errrr record already..

One thing is for certain, the next few years will determine which nerd was the the alpha, especially if they win and we go off the cliff.

Yelich is really the only guy they were supposed to clean up with in terms of return. Ozuna has the big contract coming soon enough that's going to overpay him ( Boras client), Dee was overpaid the day he signed the contract, and Stanton obviously super-expensive.

They do need to get fair value for Realmuto, maybe even more given his position and the market. I realize that's not in LAD's best interest, but it is what it is. Maybe the FO should've had their asses in gear for Zunino instead of letting him slip to Tampa? Instead, while that was happening, they were hurrying to make sure they could continue overpaying Kershaw

Couldn't read as it is behind a paywall, but what I did see was that it sounds like the Dodgers ownership group is no longer being investigated by the SEC, so that is good.

Would you say the LA media made it seem like Andy was the alpha...it appeared that way in my neck of the woods, anyway.
I asked this straight out, when the news of the proposed SF theft first came up, but really got no sense of one way or the other.
I also wonder, how much $ was in play, or if it was the title SF threw in which was the deciding factor...?
Also, did we try at all to keep him at any modified level?

Title, money and security I'm sure. It's a promotion up the ladder and into one of baseball's best franchises that has had some of the most FO stability over the last 20 years. So he is basically now one of the top 5 most powerful men in baseball that is not an owner. Pretty easy to take that, plus he is back in the Bay where it all started for his career and was said to be reluctant to leave in the first place.

The baseball writers in LA and around the country have no fucking clue what is going on in the FO and that is getting more and more evident with the continued narrative pushed about it. Guys that have left the franchise in recent seasons have said that the media blows everything out of proportion with the way things are run, not to mention the former FO people that are in MLB media that say the same thing. The FO doesn't set the lineups or make the bullpen decisions. If they did, these guys would not be taking less money to stay with the club. The media guesses as the way things are done due to the FO not letting the media into their inner circle, which is why in many of the Dodgers deals you don't hear about it until they are at the finish line.

I would not look too hard into Zaidi leaving, it is a promotion he could only get by leaving or seeing AF fired.

Sonny Gray is going to be an interesting guy to watch this offseason. The Yankees(and the media) are really trying to hype the narrative that he just could not pitch in NY. His splits would certainly agree, but it does not seem like people really dive too deep into this. He started two games on the road against a playoff team, he got crushed in one and well in the other. Both those games came in April, then the rest of the way his splits were largely carried by 3 starts in Baltimore and 1 in KC. I swear, if the Yanks are able to land a good haul out of this, baseball only has itself to blame for their continued success.

Yeah, it was evident from his final couple years in Oakland, that Gray was purely a #3 caliber starter and he's probably not even that now. #3 is probably his ceiling now, but #4 or #5 his reality. 2015 Sonny Gray is RIP. Remember when it was, " Who do you want? Gray or Verlander? " Lol
