Despite the ridiculousness that took place the past couple of months, I am very happy a season is taking place.

There's a great chance that the Dodgers break our hearts once again but throwing away a season when your team is one projected to be one of the best in the sport would've stung. Especially after acquiring Betts.

This is the main thing for me. That would've been too much.

I still think he's the latest Dreifort/Furcal... "If only he could stay healthy" entrant.....

awfully young to be having severe back issues
not figuring "durable" will ever be in his core description but still an intriguing player

I'm still cautiously optimistic about Betts. He's married with a 1.5 year-old, so there's a decent chance him and his wife are gunning for another kid, and if they are pregnant it would put him in the "opt-out and still get paid and accrue service time group". If he has the option to not play, get paid, accrue service time, and help his family stay healthy, does he take it? He's already considered by most to be the 2nd best player in the league so I doubt his stock falls much if he opts-out, in fact, it could help ensure his stock stays where it is by avoiding potential injury or a down season. He also has little to no connection with this team or players or city...

Most likely I'm over-thinking it. But until I see Betts on the field I'm not going to assume anything.

    He's about to become conservative.
    Which means he's staying put.

Apparently there are reports of Price and Betts talking guys into playing this year, so my Chicken Little rant appears to be nothing but hot air. Pretty par for the course, for me.

The only players who definitely shouldn't play are the ones who are on their last big contracts. Albert Pujols, Manny Machado, Bryce Harper, and yes, Mike Trout (his wife is pregnant anyways, giving him even more reason). Probably Gerrit Cole and Anthony Rendon too. Angels got a lot of these guys who definitely shouldn't play.

    They are good.
Corona does a lot more damage to your body if you depend on your daily workout and supplement regiments instead of depending on pizza burgers and beer.
Sure you may have the finest antibodies in the world.
But corona is not a sprint, its a long distance race.
And once you blow your pristine perfect antibodies you are defenseless.
Those kind of specimens are not for the long haul.
    Their defenses have no constitution.
And when they die... they die.

Like a lot of fine automobiles they die on you if they are not maintained at optimum conditions.
A beater like my Camry or a behemoth like an old Chevy truck can last as long as your favorite pet as you treat it like your dog.
Joc has tons of reserve run of the mill half eaten donut looking antibodies in his fat that he can recycle in his lymph nodes like an immortal host of undying soldiers..
Sure they can't hit lefties but against most things in there they will knock it out of the park.
    Or the body.
