Because the law outlaws tobacco ads in certain mediums, not nicotine.

Nicotine is the addicting agent. It's 27 or so other harmful/deadly/carcinogenic agents contained in the actual smoke that makes smoking inherently bad. The dose of nicotine in one cigarette is harmless, relatively speaking. Cigarette ads are not banned specifically because of nicotine, bad rather the harmful effects of other chemicals/compounds the nicotine addiction brings with it.

well whatever i still don't see how we have tv ads with people smoking all of the sudden.
you can't have alcohol ads with people drinking it, and this has to be some kind of bizarre loophole.

    ah here we go.
The e-cigarette market is currently unregulated, which is why there are television commercials allowed. The Food and Drug Administration, which is expected to weigh in on e-cigarettes in October, will likely propose a ban on TV advertising for e-cigs, according to a report out Monday from the financial services group CLSA Americas. - See more at: http://www.chacha.com/question/how-...-but-not-disposable-cigs#sthash.wHPE70CR.dpuf

Did anyone watch 'True Detective ' on HBO last night?
Mama mia, the girl who was servicing Woody Harrelson was beyond hot....incredible face/body. Incredible.
Damn , gratuitous nudity, when it comes in a package like this, is a wonderful thing. Check her out, even if you 're not a fan so far of the series.

    Nicotine is not the issue.
It's the poisons used to "enhance" the product and the admission that ads program the minds of "children" that seems to be the issue.

so i am in trader joes w my kid today and the lady in front is acting like a douche talking on her phone and not paying any attention to the checker trying to move the line. finally the checker raises her voice and says "hello" and she just blurts out "EBT" and the checker hits the buttons for her and she just swipes her card like any of us do a debit or cc and keeps right on talking about nothing on her phone.
she is saying something like "just accept the things you can't control" and i say "yeah like ignorant people on phones in line" that brought a few smiles from the people around. of course EBT lady just keeps talking and leaves w her free paper bags.
our transaction goes relatively quick and by the time we hit the parking lot this woman is sort of slowly moving left to right deep in her convo w whoever and i pack the car.
and as she hits her alarm i turn to see her open the tailgate on her Lexus rx330 no older than 2010. i really wanted to walk over and slap the phone i am likely paying for from her hand and chew her out. but i didn't feel like going to jail.
there is so much fraud in this system and most other entitlement programs with no follow up it is sickening.
i really wish there was some way to establish a hotline that clerks and citizens alike could use to report this type of blatant nonsense. there is little to no punishment for these opportunist thieves.
    just too easy.

i meant one that actually works but thanks. my guess would be after two reports you go on an automatic audit list.
think about it. at the state and federal level fraud is exposed on a regular basis. big fraud, and what happens to those people? nothing.

Yes people abuse it welfare and we can see it often and it's no good.
But It's small potatoes compared to fraud in high places.
Welfare fraud is not a problem for the gov for lots of reasons.
Keep eyes away from all the white collar fraud.

There is a simple and effective way of catching welfare fraud. Give whistleblowers a reward based upon the severity of the fraud. Think about it. You pay person X a small amount for catching person Y who will continue to take much more for a long time.

Lots of good movies out there now. Nice that some quality stuff is being made.
I went and saw 'August:Osage County' because my date really wanted to see it. I figured, "oh well, I'll have to see a "chick's flick"....what can you do"?
It wound up being one of the best movies I've seen in a long long time, beginning to end. Just the best writing/acting. Mesmerizing.
The way films are coming to the screen, with a top-notch cast assemblage of real pros, I think they need a "Best Ensemble Acting Award" now.
This a great film to take the wife, g/f to, and be blown away yourself by.
    Impressive on all levels.
