I can see fish and chips but Indian food is now English food?

Blood pudding, ploughman's lunches, cucumber sandwiches, mashed peas...that's English food....

    And yes it sucks.

Yes, that I can attest to. The Chinese isn't so bad either.

Is jaguar back in the uk?
They were a Ford brand for a while and looked like mondeos and contours but didn't some Indian company buy them?

BTW Indian food is so good. Japanese make some nice curry but there this litttle market in covina that has an Indian deli that has a really good lamb in sauce with garlic Naan for cheap.

i don't recall if i was on brick lane but my wifes best friend lives there and we went to amazing places they said we needed to try
some were in small towns and others in the center of london
as they say, "when in london you must murder a curry"

The East End Indian food is the best, though you can get good Indian almost anywhere in London. Brick Lane is in East London near Bethnal Green.

London is actually a mecca for food now, both high end, and for everyday food, but it's usually a modern take on food.

But traditional "English" food doesn't do it for me. Eel pies, meat pies with the radiation green sauce, it's not for me.

I ordered a sandwich at a sandwich place on Kingsway is London, and they literally gave me one layer of deli meat, no produce, and I swear it was butter on that thing.

    That truly sucked.

I've never had a chance to eat there, but I am a big fan of "nose to tail" cuisine, you know, offal and the nasty bits. Maybe it's just a part of my background, but done right, these parts can be the best tasting parts of the animal (done wrong, and you may literally be eating shit).

Anyway, St. John's, on St Johns street near Smithfields, is THE nose to tail movement restaurant. Revolutionary. Fergus Henderson was way ahead of his time, and I want to make a pilgrimage to London just to eat there one day if it is still around. Chef Henderson has Parkinson's, so not sure how much time is left, but when I lived in London, it was before the restaurant opened.

Now everyone is serving some kind of offal dish, and even regular people know what feijuoada is. Everyone serves bone marrow with toasted bread.

Anyway, would love to eat at the place that started it all.

Why don't you Hibernians play a Black 47 album while you're at it?
