    This is a good topic.
Why wear a business suit to a house of worship?
Why dress shoes and not sandals?
I understand faith does not have to be logical to some but is there a reasoning behind dressing in slacks, collared shirt, tie, and dress shoes.

    wtf is spirituality?

wearing a collar is showing respect but that respect does not extend to what the parishioners see as showing respect (kneeling)?

the camel toe made me do it!

    like i think you're serious
i see how people dress for church these days and i'm in the upper respect in that respect
i just meant i try to be as serious as the most serious person there because i have respect

i get it, respect but to who/what?
respect to your family or to the tradition?
and why do you want your kids to see you do it?

is it basically a bonding ritual?
    like imprinting?

    I am genuinely curious.
dont have any firsthand experience of catholicism

i have only heard chicks say they are spiritual/spirituality and usually it means something different to each of them
like do you care more about a persons soul/spiritual health than you do their material/physical well being?
that is one example of spirituality that i have heard

    clothing = respect?
    there is a scale?
    it changes with the times?
    clothing = respect = serious = respect?
but that brings me to another question about your time at church
    why so serious?

Camel toe is a sign of respect, pikeys. Re
It signifies the journey of the 3 Wise Men and pays tribute to their long arduous trek atop the desert beast, bringing gifts of gold and two other things nobody has a clue what they are.
Also, an exposed midriff with accompanying navel is the ultimate embracing of motherhood.
    Read your scripture.

Yeah I'm on @LAdiablo side here. While I rarely, if ever attend service with my more devout wife, but when I do I always wear a collar and slacks.
There's a reason why they call them Sunday clothes.
It's a matter of showing respect to the process. And maybe a little to the others buhlievers.

Which is why I don't go but once every year or two.
Blue eyes takes issues with my Homily critiques, most of which I try to constrain until we reach the car.
Within the realm of Catholicism they are mostly all serious.. right after being mostly all pious.
Which is another reason why I stay away.
They tend not to be aware of their own false piety which is simply too much temptation for the likes of this surly Irishman

What is it that you are respecting though?
Why do you feel the need to?
Specially when you loath to, when you loathe religion, and when you loathe everything associated with it?

Do you understand why it could seem very strange to someone who is unfamiliar with that kind of thing?
Like how when I saw Obama genuflect to the Saudis and folks tell me its about respect, tradition, and decorum.
    That is weird to me.

idc if its a buddhist morning, i'll feed the monks
a Korean house i'll remove my shoes
    its just respect
the fact that its not something i believe or understand really has zero to do w it

its respecting other people and their basic need to believe in something good
i don't resent that why would you?
i'm a heathen of the highest order and people genuinely fear me but i can drop acid and go to mass
i more or less did that last year and ended up laying on my fathers grave talking to his new neighbor waiting for mom to finish mass
that was as real as anything i've ever experienced
your just feigning your angst anyway

    Thank you.
First rule of fight club is that you must always be able to defend your faith at a drop of a hat.
Being checked is a friendly act and not a threat.
You can only defend something that you actually have.

I am curious about what you guys experience as Catholics.
I am at the same time repulsed and fascinated by it.
Like this vampire wizard looking dude.
I can't help it. He looks straight out of a pulp comic.
He sounds like it too, his mannerisms, etc...
    But I love his messages.

My issue is with the suit and tie businessman attire.
If I could dress like a pimped out bela lugosi for church I may have to reconsider things.

My father listened to him all the time...not for the message, mind you, but his "great sense of humor". My.mother even got into listening to him and I remember them both smiling when they did.

i meant in the case of very young girls especially
and i know not to stare and go into creeper mode which i think a lot of guys forget
was in a vons the other day and i see this lady wearing white spandex w a thong so i head that direction for a pass by
as i got closer i realize its not a lady but a young girl maybe 13
she's black and white mix and super cute but obviously a young girl w a womans body
i didn't look back but for sure that girl was putting herself in danger dressing that way
some freak is going to follow that family home and wait for his chance
nothing against looking sexy but its a dangerous world out there
and no 13 year old should be out there in sheer spandex w a thong and a cameltoe
