It's possible. But that doesn't change what he is "on pace" for, which is less than 25 HRs for sure. The 25 HRs a prediction.
It is not a prediction, it is on pace percentage .OPP, its a new stat. Why are you not down with OPP man? And it is capped at 500 at bats. Players that go over 500 at bats are not granted extra stats. Seager has a ton of at bats and I rated him at 25 HR even though he already has more than 25 and will end up with more, but not more per 500 at bats. You getting it now right? At the start of the year you can set a pace for a player based on his recent past, current personal/team situation, and forecast to the future. A player can certainly play better than his pace, or worse. But the pace is to try and determine a sort of baseline of good steady play for that player that you can keep track of and figure out during the season. If a player only gets to 400 at bats then his total numbers will be lower but will not affect his OPP. Although OPP does have factors that penalize you slightly if you dont reach certain playing time milestones. OPP aims to be a better stat to value the contributions of players on the Dodgers and then the Lakers followed by the rest of the teams in their leagues. Kind of combining ideas behind the way scouts rate/value prospects and how role playing games put all offensive/defensive/misc stats into player classes/levels/proficiencies/powers, etc... Your final OPP number will reflect both how well you are playing but how well you are living up to expectations. And the sub OPP numbers can be used to peek into a players development in different areas. A player will get placed in a class. Like Grandal/Joc types fit into a certain class of player that we must determine. These are massive power guys that have imperfect swings. And at the same time they play positions that require a lot of skills. While also not perfectly matched for their positions they do possess certain special skills that overshadow their deficiencies. Yasmani is not not rated the same way as your standard catchers. Guys like him have pitch framing carry a higher weight than the other classic catching skills. The others are still important but for a power hitting framer like Grandal he can still carry a good OPP without having to overrate his offense. Another point is to decrease the penalties of skills a player is not great at if that player can overcome that deficiency in other ways and give him boons for the things he does excel at.
Pretty soon they'll be factoring in if the guy is constipated or whether he banged his wife/gf missionary position or doggie style. Getting fucking stupid, man...
i remember back when ross porter used to kill us with useless stats like "on the day after a road trip, against a left handed pitcher, at night, on turf..." all that said i loved ross and thought he got a raw deal
Yeah, and coffee too. Its breakfast time. Are you in my kitchen? Cuz if yu are I just might have a grandmal.
