True. Because most of them failed to do so vs St. Louis. Kersh wasn't a single fault.

-Defense around the diamond will be vastly improved ( although idk if metric just hate kemp v much)

    - The Dodgers have scouted Grandal extensively, obviously. They have a much better sense than all of you who think they know what he is.

    - no one in the org gives a fuck about "legacy" or "he's our guy" so, quit being a homer and look at it from a baseball standpoint.

One guy has 2 Cy Youngs in 3 years, the other has 3 good months in 3 years. Does not compute.

You do make a point about there being less holes in the lineup than there were last year...if everyone hits.
Of course, if everyone hit last year, there wouldn't have been any holes either. But getting rid of Kemp is a shock...we'll see how it plays out.
AJ and below him (or above him... were auto outs, it may be remedied. Can't really expect CK to be CY or MVP again, and obviously I don't think we have the SBs we had last year with Dee. As I look at it, to me Dee is more of a loss than Kemp is overall. But shocking no matter what.
But I definitely don't think we fucked anybody at all on these trades...they just got the $ savings they so covet. And 30 mil makes this a bit more of a mystery, unless there's more to come behind it. But kemp +30 M for Grandal basically? Hmmmm

For the future, it's money saving. Not this year, I certainly agree.
Eventually they will have what they want salary -wise; can't be done immediately. But it's all in place, or getting there at a pretty quick clip seemingly. Whether this all just benefits Kasten's pursestrings or wins again a very distant WS championship, IDK. I guess we've been real failures for so long, let's face it, this can't be any worse. Hopefully this is what brings a winner finally.
So no chicken little reaction...how can the sky fall when it's down for 26 years already? If we wind up in third place, it may raise some eyebrows, maybe. But It'll be OK, because it won't be so expensive to fail again if we do. Down the road of course. If we do that right away, then it will be as bad/worse as last year, no?
In fact, in almost sounds stupid as it is now, monetarily. But there may be more, so who knows?

We shall see if you feel that way when they deem his contract too large and we have too many pitching prospects waiting in the wings.

I guess many of you forgot the MVP season he had not so long ago. Guess that doesn't carry any weight seeing as though homegrown mvps are dime a dozen.

smart Tigers..they jumped in for Cespedes before we could land Hamels. i fully believe Greinke could've been gone to Boston for Cespedes' bat...Zaidi knows all about Cespedes.

maybe Greinke for Justin Upton? Atlanta is looking for that true ace.

Worst part about this is that the Padres had one of the best bullpens in baseball last year and we didn't even get one of their relievers.

    Gibby MVP
    KERSH MVP - Homegrown

Those are the only MVPs in the last 26 years.

Kershaw has an opt out in 4 years, if they see him declining, he can walk.

That 2011 season was also before a rash of injuries, that said, as it stands, this isn't good, but their is more to come.

    • Eflin is the third player in the deal, Heyman tweets. The Padres will pay Kemp $15MM per season, meaning that Los Angeles is on the hook for about $32MM of what remains on the deal, tweets Heyman.

Can't argue with your logic Chris, of course you're right.
But people here, most of them, except the vitriolic ones who personally dislike a guy (like Matt) for something they perceive as a deserving reason for a trade, are in the minority, thank whatever diety.
Most BB fans have favorites and the business end is for those in the business...like you. I get it. And posters like to think they are in it...laughingly.
But legacy is important , especially for a team steeped in BB history like us. We have shaped and formed BB to what it has become this very day, like no other team has. It is a thing of the past, so what you've written is true and accurate.
Being a homer isn't a mortal sin; it may not be cool and corny nowadays, but consider that the "BB standpoint" is exactly that for some.
And since we haved sucked for 26 years and achieved zero, save but individual awards, where has "business" gotten us in the end?

I'm sorry I don't believe that. Especially not with moneybags owning the team. The thought of Orel on the giants still irks me. Dude should have been a dodger for life.

That's the thing that separates baseball from other sports. Certain players grown up with the teams that drafted them. The dodgers are not the fish or the rays. They are a family where players come back and teach younger players how it's done. You don't trade sandy, Fernando, scoscia, Kershaw, ect...
