makes sense. much like Trout's always been, before this season started Joc had the same penchant for taking the 1st pitch in every AB.

62% of his plate appearances have ended in either a HR, BB or K.

That would be an all time record.

His misses on 42% of his swings.

His last 7 home runs have been off of four different pitches.

Avg HR distance is 420.3 feet.

    He has work to do.

of course he does, most rooks do
but 9/19 .271/.427/.647 after one month is pretty impressive
and that's without factoring in the stellar defense he's played

I'd say it is MORE than impressive. Hell, those are borderline, if not, superstar numbers.

    I'm not calling .271 a superstar #. Ever.

Good for a rookie? Sure. but the superlatives run thin when he still is near leading the league in strikeouts

He's always going to have strikeout numbers because he takes a lot of pitches and works deep into counts. He's also 2nd in the league in walks.

You need to ditch your old baseball analysis to appreciate Joc. 10th in the league in OBP. 9th in the league in OPS, ahead of your boy Trout. You can hit .255 all day long if your OBP is .422 -- his numbers right now are superstar numbers.

Yea, I'm calling 9 HRs and 19 RBI, through that point of the season (especially considering he was hitting mostly 8th), along with a 1.074 OPS superstar numbers.

I'm with you on the kid being a stud who takes at bats better than his age and that stats don't always show that, league wide, he's a better than par CF in his first season. Joc is a keeper there's no debate. The K's will get better as he ages... not to worry

Still... old school or new... not too many CF's in the HoF with a .271.

though there are quite a few strikeout kings in the hall...
