Really wonder who Ned is looking at for the bullpen. A lefty would be nice (Andrew Miller is the most expensive, Neal Cotts would be a great get as well). It doesn't have to be a big name, former closer. An upgrade over Chris Perez is pretty easy and could go a huge way to giving depth to our bullpen. I just want a guy that can keep the game close even when we are losing, since it seems as if Howell/Wilson/League/Kenley are never going to enter a game when we are losing.

I'd be very happy with Lackey.

Any team that gets him is probably gonna have to re-negotiate that option if they want him to pitch next year, he's made over $100M in his career. I would definitely be willing to offer him $10M for 2015 (assuming things go well down the stretch) with incentives based on innings.

Beckett making it abundantly clear that this team needs another starter, can't afford to have 2 guys that suck pitch every 5 days.

Since the Dodgers have been rumored to not be interested in including Joc in a deal for Lester, I'm guessing it is not us they will be trading with 48 hours til deadline.

Jose Tabata was pulled from his start tonight. The Pirates were supposedly coming in hard after Lester, so that may be where he is going.

Apparently the A's are in on Lester as well. That makes me feel that the asking price may not be all that astronomical as I can't see them moving anything else too huge, especially for a rental.

I tend to think for certain teams, the asking price is different.

I remember getting mad that the gnats got Pence for not a big deal, but hearing the Phils wanted a lot from us.

When you have a nice farm, the asking price will go up.

Cardinals and Dodgers are the hottest after Lester, according to Heyman. That may be one team we do not want to lose Lester to.

It has to do with what their scouts have seen really. They may have a guy that sees something that others don't or a quick fix that could add a couple tics to a guys fastball. In the end though for Pence, it was Ruben Amaro Jr and he is borderline retarded.
