If he changes his number again I'm gonna riot. Ok that's a bit over the top but I already bought his damn shirsey.

And the Dodgers have no business retiring Piazza's number if he's going in as a Met.

If they retire Piazza's #, they'd likely let Joc continue to wear it and once Joc leaves/retires nobody will wear it after that.

Man saw that animals had mates and he lived all alone in his cave.
Every guy dug out his own cave as soon as he was strong enough to dig because that was the way he learned how to survive.
But a cave is not a home without a mate, its just a mancave. A cave is pretty depressing, it sucks literally as it is a depression of earth.
So the man yearned in his heart. He desired a mate to love. Im sure he had a lot of other feelings too.
All those feelings are his rib.
Rib means side like a riviera.
Have you ever had someone say "im gonna make someone out of you" or "im gonna be somebody"?
Out of mans came his desire and other tender feelings gushing from his side like a flowing spring of water.
    That lifespring is eve.
You better not let the spring get polluted. Its your job Adam to clean up your side.

    A-Gon ranked top-10 1st baseman by MLBN's shredder
by Matthew Moreno | Dodger Blue — 2 hours ago

While prospect rankings from multiple publications have dominated Major League Baseball headlines in recent weeks, MLB Network has also been in the process of unveiling their top 10 players at each position — with the Los Angeles Dodgers being well-represented.

Just as Jose De Leon, Corey Seager and Julio Urias have been among the prospects to receive national recognition, so have Clayton Kershaw, Joc Pederson and Corey Seager. Unsurprisingly, MLB Network’s ‘The Shredder’ again named Kershaw the best pitcher at present time.

Pederson did not receive the same honor amongst top-10 center fielders, but analyst Brian Kenny listed the 23 year old the No. 8 player at his position.

Kenny and Bill Ripken also ranked Seager a top-10 shortstop right now.

As for first baseman, Adrian Gonzalez was ranked seventh by The Shredder, and eighth by Carlos Peña and Kenny.

Gonzalez was ranked ninth entering the 2015 season, and finished sixth based on WAR (3.9). He was fourth entering 2014 and third in 2013. Peña, someone who has taken issue with the The Shredder’s factoring of sabermetrics, didn’t take issue with where the 33-year-old Gonzalez was ranked:

“I love this pick by The Shredder. [Gonzalez] is exactly what I’m talking about. He’s able to say you know what, ‘I’m going to get a pitch and drive it out of the ballpark because that’s what my team needs right now.’ And yet, you see the high average, you see that he puts the ball in play, and all the things we like with that middle-away approach. And when it’s time to go deep, he can do it as well. I love the fact that he can make those adjustments in-game, per at-bat, and every single pitch.”

Kenny and Peña expect Gonzalez to remain in top 10 due to his work ethic and approach. Since being traded by the Boston Red Sox in 2012, Gonzalez has been a steady force at the plate and played a consistent first base for the Dodgers.

He’s appeared in at least 156 games all the while assuming a leadership role over that same stretch. Despite battling a pinched nerve in his back that affected the left side of his body, Gonzalez posted an .830 on-base plus slugging percentage last season, which was his highest mark since 2011.

Overall, Gonzalez hit .275/.350/.480 with 28 home runs, 90 RBIs, a .354 wOBA and 129 wRC+ last season. He led the Dodgers in batting average, on-base percentage, home runs, RBIs, total hits (157) and doubles (33).

Among those who have spent a minimum of 50 percent of games played at first base since 2011, Gonzalez ranks first in games (790), second in RBIs (531) and total bases (1,464), third in runs (411) and fourth in WAR (22.2).

Pederson excited to live with Seager during spring training
by Matthew Moreno | Dodger Blue — 4 hours ago

Having appeared in three Cactus League games in 2013 and four in 2014, Los Angeles Dodgers shortstop Corey Seager joined the club for his first big league camp last year as a non-roster invitee.

Seager hit .333/.500/.500 and had three doubles, four RBIs, seven strikeouts and seven walks over 14 games as he impressed the Dodgers with his composure and work ethic. The promising prospect was joined in camp last year by close friend Scott Schebler.

The two first became teammates with High-A Rancho Cucamonga in 2013. They reunited in 2014 when Seager was promoted to Chattanooga, the Dodgers’ Double-A affiliate at the time.

Schebler began last season with Triple-A Oklahoma City, where he was joined by Seager after he first played 20 games with Double-A Tulsa.

While Schebler made his Major League debut prior to Seager — in June when the Dodgers were short on healthy outfielders — they closed the regular season with the club.

However, Schebler, selected in the 26th round by the Dodgers in the 2010 draft, was traded to the Cincinnati Reds in a three-team trade last December that also included the Chicago White Sox.

With one of Seager’s closest friends no longer in the organization, Joc Pederson told David Vassegh on AM 570 Dodger Talk he will live with Seager this spring:

“That’s my guy, I’m going to live with him in Spring Training. Seager is an awesome dude, just real quiet. … He’s 21 years old and I’m going to be 24, so he’s a little bit ahead of the game. … I’m going to do my best to keep his confidence, and help him not feel like he needs to jump off a bridge.”

Pederson and Seager were brought along in similar fashion by the Dodgers, with each getting an opportunity to get their feet wet in the Majors prior to taking on a full-time role.

In 27 games with the Dodgers, Seager hit a blistering .337/.425/.561 with four home runs, eight doubles, 17 RBIs, a .421 wOBA and 175 wRC+. He then became the youngest position player to start a postseason game in franchise history.

Seager enters the 2016 season as the consensus No. 1 prospect, as he swept the honor from Baseball America, Baseball Prospectus, ESPN and MLB.com. He’s also an early favorite to win the 2016 National League Rookie of the Year Award.

Funny, but I'm hoping that changes. Kid just got too power happy, happens to a lot of young players.

Then changed everything about his stance and swing during the seasons, which is never a good thing. We should see some changes in the Spring.

The Gurriel brothers would like to stay and play for the same team together. That benefits big money teams the most, though they said if it doesn't work out, they will take it in stride.

    http://m.mlb.com/news/article/164578238/cubans-yulieski-lourdes-gurriel-jr-training

Since their mysterious disappearance from the Cuban team last week, the Gurriel brothers have been training in secret, even as speculation mounted over their location and future in the game.

Yulieski Gurriel and his younger brother Lourdes Gurriel Jr. left the Cuban team at the conclusion of the Caribbean Series last week in the Dominican Republic, and until now had not been heard from publicly. Speculation from baseball insiders has placed the brothers in the Dominican, Haiti, or Panama. But the brothers have gone underground -- a common strategy used by players who defect from Cuba -- and no one knows for certain where they are.

Late Monday, the brothers surfaced for the first time to deliver a message. They would not disclose their location, but said they are working hard toward their Major League dream and hope to eventually sign with the same team.

"We want the fans to know we are fine and working toward our dream," Yulieski said in Spanish in an exclusive interview with MLB.com. "I know there are a lot of people who worried about us, but we are working hard and training every day to accomplish our dreams to play in the Major Leagues."

It's uncertain where the brothers will establish residency outside of the United States and Cuba, the first step to becoming free agents and eligible to sign with a Major League team. Miami's El Nuevo Herald reported that Yulieski, 31, established residency in Panama during his years traveling with the national team, thus making his path to free agency easier than for Lourdes, 22, who still needs to establish residency.

"We are ready to play," said Yulieski, who did not confirm the status of his Panamanian residency. "We hope it's this year. We want to play as soon as possible."
Yulieski Gurriel, one of Cuba's most celebrated and decorated players, is considered to be Major League-ready and could possibly make it to the Majors this season. The infielder was an Olympian in 2004 and has represented Cuba in all three World Baseball Classic tournaments. He's been part of Cuban championship teams at the Pan American Games, Central American Games, World Baseball Championships, International Cup and Caribbean Series.

Gurriel Jr., who plays shortstop and outfield, was hitting .321 with eight home runs and 32 RBIs and a .924 OPS in 43 games for the Havana Industriales this season. A good runner with a good glove, he could project to be a center fielder and can also play shortstop. Lourdes is comparable to Buddy Reed from the University of Florida, who is expected to be a top-15 pick in the upcoming MLB Draft, and while not as polished as his older brother, he has higher long-term upside and could ignite a bidding war.

"People can expect us to do the best we can every time we are on the field," Lourdes said. "To play baseball in the Major Leagues is our dream and with God's help, we will get there."
Yulieski projects to hit .285 with 15-18 home runs and 85 RBIs. He can play second base, third base and shortstop. He's a clutch gamer with some pop, a more fluid and athletic Jeff Kent type.

It could takes months for the Gurriels to get proper clearance to sign with a Major League club, with the All-Star break serving as a realistic estimate. Yulieski is in position as soon as he is eligibile to do so, but Lourdes' situation is a bit more complex.

Cuban players who are at least 23 years old and have played in a Cuban professional league for five or more seasons are exempt from the international signing guidelines established by the Collective Bargaining Agreement, effectively making them Major League free agents once they are eligible to sign with a big league club. Cuban players who leave the island and go directly to the United States are subject to the signing guidelines of the MLB Draft.

Lourdes has played six seasons in Cuba and won't be 23 until October. He will not be subject to the guidelines if he signs after he turns 23, and therefore stands to have more leverage if he signs after his birthday because teams would not have to use money from their international bonus pool to sign him. There are a number of big-market teams who have exceeded their bonus pools by more than 15 percent in the past two years -- such as the Red Sox and Yankees -- which means they are banned from signing any international amateurs for more than $300,000 in the next two signing periods. In other words, those teams would have no shot at Lourdes if he signs before his birthday, but would not be restricted if he signs afterward.

Complicating things further is the brothers' desire to stay together.

"We would like to play together on the same team, have my brother near me," Yulieski said. "But if the circumstances don't permit it and we have to go different paths, that's what we will do."

The brothers -- whose surname had previously been spelled Gourriel before the family changed the spelling less than two years ago, according to Yulieski -- are the youngest members of the first family of baseball in Cuba.

Oldest brother Yunieski, 33, has played 16 seasons in Serie Nacional and the past two seasons for Quebec in the Canadian-American Association. Their father, Lourdes Sr., who spelled his name Gourriel, played for the national team for 15 years and won a gold medal, two batting titles and an MVP Award in Cuba. He was also a national team manager.

The brothers also had an uncle, great uncle and cousin who starred in Cuba.

"Our dream is to play in big leagues and it's been our desire for a long time," Yulieski said. "The world knew it. Now, we are taking these steps down the path to get there."

PECOTA projects Dodgers to win NL West and finish with best record in MLB
by Matthew Moreno | Dodger Blue — 6 hours ago

What the Los Angeles Dodgers may have lost in star power this offseason, they’ve made up with depth that other clubs rival. Zack Greinke’s spot in the starting rotation was filled by the signings of Scott Kazmir and Kenta Maeda.

The left-hander and Japanese native gives the Dodgers six options for their rotation, which should bode well considering the litany of injuries starting pitchers suffered last season. Additionally, much of the core roster from 2015 returns.

A notable change in the everyday lineup comes at shortstop, where Corey Seager is expected to take over for his first full season in the Majors.

Factoring all of that in, PECOTA is extremely bullish on the Dodgers for the 2016 season. Los Angeles is projected to win a fourth consecutive National League West title, and finish with the best record in the Majors at 94-68.

The Dodgers are predicted to finish seven games ahead of the San Francisco Giants (87-75) and 16 games ahead of the Arizona Diamondbacks (78-84). The New York Mets, last season’s NL champion, are projected to go 91-71.

NL teams forecasted to come in behind the Dodgers and their 94 wins are the Chicago Cubs (92-70) and Mets. The Giants and Washington Nationals have the next-best projections at 87-75. As for the American League, the Cleveland Indians are predicted to have a 92-70 record.

They’re followed by the Tampa Bay Rays (91-71), Boston Red Sox (88-74) and Houston Astros (87-75). Reigning World Series champions Kansas City Royals are projected to have a 76-86 record, good for last place in the AL Central division.

PECOTA predicted the Dodgers to win the NL West last season and pace the Majors in wins by going 97-65. Los Angeles took home a third consecutive division title, though finished 92-70.

They’ve won at least 90 games in each of the past three seasons for the first time since 1976-78. The Dodgers three consecutive NL West titles are a first in franchise history.

^^^^^This is the ying and yang of it for me...it's great to read such high expectations and bolsters confidence and excitement for the 2016 campaign.
But the big overblown prediction for top of the pops doesn't quite seem tp get us there...like last year's...
Maybe, finally...the ship comes in for us....
