The Sculpin's are pricey, and now-a-days some of the pricey offerings aren't worth the extra dinero. I'll occasionally splurge on a sure thing, but to try something new it better be getting great reviews.
It's not an IPA, but next time you guys are in AZ (if ever), try Four Peaks' Kiltlifter. They might have it in other places but it's from a local brewery here in Phoenix.
I can't go with the stouts or porters, but just about anything else goes (non-fruity). I'm an IPA guy, though, not many I don't like.
It's so hard paying $15 for a 6-pack when I can get a 30 rack of Coors for $18 on a good day. College kid problems lol.
Yeah, Ballast Point is expensive. It's one of the things that attracts me to Lagunitas, tends to be way cheaper. My go-to IPAs are Stone Delicious IPA (not to be confused with regular Stone IPA), Stone Cali-Belgique IPA, and Karl Straus Tower 10. Cali-Belgique is the only one I find in bombers, but all of them are available in 6-packs.
I've had 3 or 4 Stone beers, the Delicious IPA was one. They're all good too. I think one was "Enjoy by (date)", it was excellent.
College was cruel on the taste buds. Didn't care what I had to drink as long as it was cheap and got me drunk.
