Hopefully I can fall asleep soon. So much easier to sleep during the game.

Just want to say we suck and I hope everyone except Turner, Kershaw, Jansen, Seager, Joc, Grandal (I suppose) and Urias is off the roster next year.

Big deal. Look at his swing and his numbers since the second half of 2014

Maybe in the 1960s but things change.
Base stealing is just not that important in the modern game.
I mean as a a team philosophy. Again unless you have guys that are really really good at it.
The coach has to coach to his teams strengths and not its weaknesses.
And btw... Jon Lester is doing just fine with his approach of not caring about the base runners.
There is a reason why he doesnt care. And its obviously working for him.
Silly to call him out on it when he is so successful.
The Cubs have Arrieta who has recently won a Cy Young, Kyle Hendricks who lead the league in ERA, yet its Jon Lester who folks know is the real ACE of the team.

Put it this way, it was about the only thing Smoltz took a break from sucking Baez off to comment about.

big deal, i thought right now is what matters?
Joe Blanton had pretty good numbers during that stretch.
    Sucked lately.
You want Blanton in the game?
Puig had one bad moment with that bunt the other game, but with all the bunting the Dodgers are doing its obvious that its a coaching decision and not his call. I gave him shit for bunting too but Dave probably called that one.
Truth is that Puig has hit the Cubs well and is one of our better players vs that team currently.
    But you have your narrative.

Cubbies still havent really hit LHP yet and here comes LAD's best.
Which reminds me that Dayton needs to get Blanton's spot in the pen asap.

Ive been Catcher my entire life.. base runners steal off of pitchers PERIOD...

baseball is a game of cat and mouse.. you just can't simply give up on one part of the game..

Pitchers need to keep runners honest. No Exception..

Look Lester has clearly gotten away with managers being timid as FUCK..

He is legit in his own right but the fact that he has a weakness in not throwing over to ANY base with runners on is ludicrous.. he needs to be exposed...

No way around it man.. he needs to get stole son!

Look....I don't care anymore about this game. All I what right now is to break every Cubs fans' hearts into a million little pieces in Game 6 and 7 with our number 1 and 2 pitchers ready to go and rested.

I want a full Bartman-esque meltdown by the Cubbies.

Tonight was the first time this postseason where I've felt down on the team but even then it still hasn't reached that devastation level. Instead of sitting here blaming the FO, Roberts, or whoever I think we need to realize that we're playing against a damn good team over here. Just have to accept that the boys got outplayed the last two games. Have to tip the cap to the other team; but like how every one of you knows, we're getting real tired of having to do that. I don't blame them too much for not hitting Lester, but waiting until the 5th to magically scratch a couple runs together off of Lackey in game 4 is what really did us in.

Now just gotta take it one game at a time with a similar situation that we know all too well. Down 2 games with Kersh on the hill. Get the dude some runs and let him do his thing.

This is the very definition of an evenly matched contest. They win Game 1 against Maeda. We win Games 2 and 3 with Kershaw and Hill. Did not expect a win with a rookie Urias in Game 4 and was definitely not sure about Maeda again in Game 5.

So we are, in alot of ways, where we wanted to be in Games 6 and 7. We can beat their #2 in Hendricks.....amd we've beaten Arrieta, their #3. So our #1 vs their #2. Our #2 vs their #3.

It's not over. I still believe until there is nothing else to believe.

Your post reminded me I really need to re-watch Deadwood soon. Haven't done it since the show ended. It's due.

Dodgers down 3-2 ... Last NL team to overcome 3-2 deficit by winning final 2 games on road: Marlins in 2003 NLCS vs Cubs.

Damn...I think talking about next year and who we need to win, arguing about Braun yes or Braun no is a capsule reflection of the LAD...who next are we going to get to rescue us and get us finally to the WS? And here we are, not even eliminated as of yet. It's a done deal? Wow.
I'm not saying don't talk about it if that is what you want to talk about, but it just seems so pathetic we once again, especially at this point in time, are back at it. Again. Already.
I guess you always have to try and make winners out of perrenial losers like us, at least on a message board. We are duty bound, I think.
Some are satisfied with a competitive team, that gets into the post season each year, into the "crapshoot".
World Series champs? Eh..if it happens...cool. If not...cool, too.
The $ roll in, either way.

Amazing, isn't it ? We didn't need anyone like him, it turns out ( we have our own versions). We needed a Lester. That's what we really could have used, imo.
    Or certainly Andrew Miller.

I think Toles deserves a shot as the lead off hitter on a daily basis....:duck:

Of course you do. All stupid dancing around does is distract the hitter.
