Are we talking about the same Flat Earther? What the fuck are you even talking about? How does that make him smart.
in fairness his first role was the ass fuck so... even though he did go on to act in a LOT of other roles he would be forever known as the squealer theres a lot written on it and i think the acting community gave him a lot of work since they felt bad for subjecting him to that as far as i know there was def nothing before or anything since that comes close to the violation of that scene i've never seen a star wars so i wouldn't have even known about what an obi wan kenobi was
Comments that shocked a lot of people because he is so smart Irving finished with a near 4.0 GPA in high school, is a course or two away from finishing his degree @ Duke ( which he really doesn´t have to be bothered with since he´s making near 20M a year in NBA salary + has like the #1 sig shoe @ Nike right now) Regardless of the flat Earth foolishness, still a smart kid, smarter than a lot of jackasses in all of these sports, especially baseball
oh wait you were serious? sorry but i dgaf how his gpa turned out the guy is a fool that can shoot a basketball you finding his gpa defines him as intelligent is on you
Dunno what's more pathetic, KI's flat earth theory or actually knowing the dude's scholastic history......
The flat earth theory, don't let your bias fool you on this. Takes a special kind of idiot for flat earth.
Don´t care one way or the other huh? was talking about education and athletes and the collective GPAs of kids in particular sports A couple other impressive guys, Jeremy Lin out of Harvard and Brandon Knight who plays in PHX Knight was classified as a junior the 1st day he set foot on UK campus, had like a 4.4 or 4.3 GPA in high school, very bright
These are the kind of conversations you have in a game thread when your team is in first place by 18 games.
Even if you were piling onto the Kyrie thing it´d be fine, bro..I´m not his lawyer, I just presented the facts I was only telling LAdiablo what we were discussing since he was up in arms about GPA talk and academics I believe your theory there to be correct..structure works for most athletes That´s all it is when it boils down to it, is structure Crackpot beliefs..one thing to be thought of and theorized, almost another thing entirely to be voiced Personally, I never got past feeling like ¨ damn, he must be pretty confident to say that publicly ¨ Didn´t even read into his comments or go in depth, never got that far, never cared about the conversation, still don´t Still stuck on him being a public figure, being more than smart enough to know he´d receive backlash, yet saying it anyway Kyrie doesn´t have a lot of fucks to offer..he marches to the beat of his own drum, he´s going to mess around and be the president of something one of these days, maybe the player´s association when Chris Paul is done
yeah i was hardly up in arms over the gpa thing when anyone says something that stupid it deserves all the derision that comes w it just like when someone says something like the holocaust didn't happen and you can find plenty of tenured professors saying things like that they are, just like kyrie, morons nothing brave about proving yourself an imbecile in the public eye and nothing redeeming in ignoring ignorance it should be shouted down
Guess this caught you in a pretty foul mood, or whatever, and if you think acting is inconsequential, that is your prerogative. But it is what the guy chose as his life long career, and I was trying to make a point in the Ned Beatty narrative. Guess I didn't make a point with you, obviously, just thought I'd share the info as another example. Haven't the foggiest about his character sounding like a spoiled brat or the relevance of it. Wow...and all the constantly nasty comments about LAD announcers...and the seat colors in DS.
I didn't miss your point. I got it. It's a fine point. Was just making my own. No need to get personal. Acting is a fine career and I even went as far to say he's a talented, intelligent, and generous man. But his comments about playing Obi-Wan Kenobi came off to me as ungrateful and petty. He was able to earn a good living doing what he loved for decades but seemed more focused on vanity than anything else. Again, that's my impression on that specific comment. Not the man as a whole. Actors in general have really turned me off in recent years because they are so out of touch with the common man. Yet they have the nerve to preach to me. A lot of them seem self-indulgent, arrogant, self-righteous, etc. They often buy into their own hype. They can pretend to be a great doctor, astronaut, scientist or whatever on the screen but I think some of them forget that it's all fake. At the end of the day they are just reading lines. That is not a knock on the profession itself but I just wish there was more humility Hollywood culture is making it hard for me to look up to or appreciate the craft as I once did. Maybe it is my own bias that's the problem. I wouldn't doubt it because while I can't stand smug Robert De Niro, I still have an appreciation for Jon Voight. So there are certainly bias involved. But I guess that's a different conversation.
I ignore ignorance everyday, it´s underrated. Trust that if Kyrie were rolling out ignorance on a daily basis, I´d be searching for an ignore list/loony bin to put him in as well, throw away the key. It´s all really just as simple as this..the reasonable take away here is that smart people can say stupid things sometimes as well. Happens everyday and some have sketchy beliefs too. Of course mocking comes along with that and it´s fair game, however, you seem to have skipped over general mocking, instead rolling with this theory where you seriously believe Kyrie is clueless all around and that´s fine, but it´s just inaccurate. In fact, that take could be considered ignorance as well. At worst, he was being moronic with his particular take there. Brave, I don´t know...confident without a bunch of fucks to give about peoples´ reactions, AKA cocky, I´m sure of it. Does he deserve whatever level of shit he´s given for his comments? Either way, he´s still one of the brightest ( if not the brightest) among the all-star caliber type of talents in the league, and what he´s truly given at the end of the day is north of 20M a year, so honestly nothing anybody says is going to seriously damage the guy. All in all, both ¨ the Earth is flat ¨ and ¨ Kyrie is a moron ¨ aren´t all that dissimilar because there aren´t enough facts to support either of the claims
there aren't enough facts to support either of the claims??? through all the shit you have gone through with practically everyone else on this board i always stayed out of it and gave you the benefit of the doubt you have interesting sports takes and i guess ultimately thats why we're here so i'll leave it at that you alone have exposed yourself as someone not to be taken seriously under all the games and nonsense that goes on i can have respect for everyones point of view in the end but not enough evidence the world is round? gotta draw the line there also have an issue w people that think making a lot of money makes anyone bright unless they actually create something he shoots a ball, but thats another story if you find that to be brilliant and leaves him beyond reproach then go outside and dribble yourself a mensa
I will never look down upon another dudes beliefs on subjects that cant be proven. Like if I start talking about my brow ridge and neanderthal DNA to some of my family and friends they start telling me im some crazy loon who believes we all came from chimps and that global warming is a true doctrine. To them saying that men came from chimps is like saying the earth is flat. Although they may believe the world is flat before they believe we come from chips.
