    Its a great strategy,
be super super annoyingly selective most of the year
    lull them pitchers
then become hyper aggro in the playoffs
confuse them into giving you better pitches to hit
unbalancing is the best way to topple an opponent
    Logan is a sapper.
    Every unit needs a sapper.

We are, people love Joc, Logan and Grandal more than Puig.
And they HATE those 3 guys.
    Puig getting some begrudging love.
But you dont have to get love when you are already loved.
You have to give love to someone you dont already want to love... but you have to.
    Like your crazy uncle.

True. Most nights he saps the energy right out of the lineup. Fortunately the rest of the lineup makes up for it.

Ok, so I am trying to figure out why MGT would not go after Stanton? Of course this would be provided that the Marlins are truly interested in trading him. But if they were why would MGT not trade for him as opposed to signing Arenado/Trout/Harper. Arenado and Harper are not a FA's till 2019, Trout is not a FA till 2020. Lets look at Arenado (IMO Trout and Harper will probably get more money) who is projected to get a 30/100 deal. That puts him averaging $30MM a year till 2029. Stanton is on the books till 2028, but has a buy out of $10MM that last year. Over that 11 years the AAV is $27MM. Yeah he is one year older but that is a savings of $33MM over the life of the contract. If MGT is going to keep one of Darvish or try for Otani. That would leave a rotation of Kershaw/Darvish-Otani/Wood/Hill. Then we need a spot for Urias, and possibly one more of Behuler/Alvarez. Why not use one of Behuler/Alvarez to get Stanton now, and get that big bat an year and 1/2 earlier?

I read "I can't understand why management wouldn't go after Stanton" and stopped to think that he's signed until humans figure out how to live on Mars, guaranteed a ton of money, and has had his fair share on injuries thus far in his career.

He's good but I've never understood the infatuation with him from Dodger fans. He ain't coming here; especially with this FO.

You should keep reading. IF MGT is going to try to sign a big bat in the future.....then it will most likely be at a minium of 30MM per year for 10 years (BTW Stanton's AAV is $27MM/year). Any of those FA are not available till at least 2019.....which means they will be locked up till 2029 at the earliest. Stanton's contract is done in 2027. SO to sum it up, Stanton's contract is cheaper and shorter than what could be for Harper/Trout/Arenado.

As of now there's zero evidence that they're going to do that. Granted there hasn't been a hitter on the open market recently with the caliber of a Bryce Harper or Nolan Arenado, but they've shown repeatedly that they're finding other ways to win other than outspending everyone.

I agree. There is no indication that MGT will pursue adding a bat of that dollar amount, however I have to believe that the bean counters up there are at least looking at it. Getting better has been there motto, and the only real thing this team lacks is that big "oh shit" bat in the middle of the line up. Right now IMO the feeling around the league is "crap, that line up is tough to get around". You add Stanton into the middle of the line up and teams start to actually fear this line up.

I could see them possibly pushing for Harper but only if his reported asking price is completely overblown.

I guess you could argue for Harper, he is 3 years younger and has less milage, but at the bottom of the contract Harper is still getting $30MM/year and you can't have him till 2019. Those 3 years might be a viable sacrafice to get Stanton a season and a half earlier and at a cheaper price.

it seems like out team is full of guys w something to prove
adding a superstar/super high pay type of guy that is elite in every way including his own mind fucks that up imo
my least favorite team was the sheffield/chan ho prima donna group
i love watching the mix on this team without massive money guys
unless you want to say agon and JT but those are both great character guys that don't act it and work
and JT earned his contract just like all these guys on this team are going to
the pitching is always going to be at a premium for an elite guy
nothing against a great player getting paid but adding someone like that to a team like this seems to have more potential downside than up
im all in w the what the nerds are doing w the chemistry of the club
we haven't done anything yet but i don't think i recall being this excited since i was a boy and cey, garvey, lopes and russell
this organization is in line to be good for a very long time
just lets get that first ring ok boys?
