For the "why not Bruce?" crowd. Don't forget he was traded last year into a playoff race and put up numbers almost as shitty as Granderson's were this season. He OPS'd around .800 for the Indians, so not really anything too special for a guy who plays horrendous defense, but he has shown up for the playoffs. Once again, we all have the benefit of hindsight. At the time of the trade, Granderson had been one of the hottest hitters in baseball and actually looked like a great addition right off the bat. Then he fell off the face of the earth. In hindsight, it is an easy call, but at the time most folks should have been pretty pumped with what the FO did. Very disappointing to see this two years in a row. Hopefully we can have a set OF next year and not have some bum come in and ruin it for everyone.
Granderson had a late is season "surge" ? Must have missed it. Or is it that he made so little or minimal contact, a few hits with an HR thrown in looks like a surge? Whatever it was, if Ya$ the framer is playing, gotta have at least somebody between them...I know, options limited. But those two create a huge two out hole every time their spots come up. When Puig tripled, to have him die on third, was pathetic.
Clayton Kershaw has the highest BAA (.515) and ERA (25.50) in the 7th inning of postseason starts (min 5 GS). Talking NL on @MLBNetworkRadio Sad
True. It is. And the attempt to get blood out of that stone continues. There are a whole lot of pitches out of that mighty left arm. Nothing new though. Been a Dodger rep for decades.
It'll be interesting to see how they attack it this off-season..could focus there like they did with 2B this past off-season. I remember you saying that some scouts believe Bellinger is LAD's CF of the future..then you have some Miami OFers that'll probably be available, maybe all 3..then there's Verdugo, who I won't have a ton of confidence in until he shows he can finish a long season off the right way for once. Obviously, other others options as well, maybe Taylor sticks out there for another go round, etc.
based off the wild card game and yesterday's game, seems like the D-Backs approach is to attack the first pitch. Dodgers seem to have the opposite approach (outside of Seager)
I'm gonna miss the game tonight (first playoff game ever I'm shook) but I'll be following on my phone and checking in here. Let's get it. No way Ray can go 7 strong after pitching 3 days ago.
first 3 innings this team has got to grind out at bats. Will be interesting to see if Ray tries to throw a ton of strikes to go deep into game and how the Dodgers respond to that
It would be interesting what Roberts does if the score is tight and Kershaw completes six. Giraldi was ripped apart by the press for taking CC out even though the metrics told him that inning is where CC causes problems. Didn’t work yesterday.
great read i remember seeing him walk up w CK on the mound and DM debating taking him out he had his glove over his face and whatever he said that was it, still doing that to this day and his ab style is full poker face w exact mannerisms everytime if he's not in the game you can find him hanging on the dugout rails every game sure hope the Dodgers keep him around as a coach/manager type if he's done and dave should have had him in that game as a PH in the final innings
I too will be a no show tonight. Family in town and we are going to the Buffs game, though early returns are that we may all leave to go to a bar at the half to watch the Dodgers. Might be good for my heart to skip some of the game, haha.
Lineup: Taylor CF Seager SS Turner 3B Bellinger 1B Hernandez LF Forsythe 2B Barnes C Puig RF Hill P Thats a good lineup to me
Yasiel is crazier than a shithouse rat...but really loved that insanity at that time. You think it would inspire at least a medium fly ball from someone coming to the plate. Nah...not with that part of the lineup.
