    - Bowden reporting this morning that Machado's last game as an Oriole is expected to be the All-Star game. It will be interesting to watch some teams top MiLB prospects to see if any sit out tomorrow.

    - The overwhelming opinion is that the Dodgers are in the driver's seat for Machado since they have so much high floor depth on the farm with MLB upside in a franchise that is loaded with young talent already in the majors and that they can afford to move players outside their top 3-4 prospects. With that said, many believe that the Dodgers will ultimately miss out as though they have a lot of talent, the Phillies and Braves both have more players with higher upside that they have been reluctant to discuss thus far, but could move a top prospect that would be hard for the Dodgers to beat without moving a guy like Buehler. The new talk in recent days is that the Phillies owner is now involved with trade negotiations. This is always dangerous as an owner will negotiate with passion and not logic("Hello Mr. Angelos!"). These types of moves can usually strip a farm system of more top tier talent than necessary to complete a deal and would likely cause the Dodgers to lose out on the All-Star SS.

If it’s not us the Brewers or the Phillies is honestly fine with me. Neither are very good. I’m sure I’ll regret this post when they sweep us in the NLDS but, they’re definitely not as good IMO as Chicago, Arizona or Washington

Honestly, the Braves as well would not be horrible. Usually teams that are loaded with kids that have never been there before get exposed badly in the playoffs. I think the only threat is the Phillies as they have the best shot of re-signing him of any team in the NL outside of us. He is probably gone from anywhere else he would go in the NL.

i don't hate roberts, but there are times where i question his thinking
easy to do when we're sitting anonymously behind the shield of the internet
but tbh, criticism (justified or not) comes with the territory
totally agree he's better than most of the post-lasorda predecessors
but that's a pretty low bar tbh... (Grady Little, Davey Johnston and Don Mattingly have no right to be offended by this)
just glad, in retrospect, the nerds thought better than to go with kapler (anti-semitic racist)
i very well could be alone on this, but to me it's not so much the best manager...
but the best guy to fit that particular team
and roberts appears to be a good fit for this team
now woodward on the other hand...

    MLB FUTURES ALL-STAR GAME
Diaz homers twice, Ruiz leaves Futures Game with bruised hand
by Ryan Walton | True Blue LA — 9 hours ago
    [IMG]
The Dodgers had a pair of prospects play in the MLB Futures Game Sunday afternoon, a game filled with homers that would be won by Team USA, 10-6.

Yusniel Diaz had quite a day for himself, starting the game in left field and hitting third in the lineup for Team World. The 21-year-old has only hit 26 homers in 1,118 plate appearances over the past three seasons but he connected with some power in two of his at-bats Sunday.
Diaz would tie the game in both the fifth and seventh innings on mid-90s fastballs, one to right-center and the other to left-center.
Catcher Keibert Ruiz didn’t get much of a chance to hit, or play for that matter, leaving the game early after a foul ball hit his right hand. Ruiz was 0-for-1 with a strikeout.

I love Dave Roberts. Batting Baez, Arenado and Goldschmidt off the top knowing Sale is going in the first and batting 3 lefty’s 6-8 knowing Severino is going in the 2nd lol

AJ Hinch hears the lineup and makes a comment about how he didn’t realize there was this much strategy in the game.

Yeah it actually said a lot to me about Roberts and the FO when the FO chose Roberts over Kapler and even Maddon.

Yes, it says a lot to me, too...it says they suck.

just kidding...what chops did Kapler have anyway? Being a mediocre player?
and wasn't Maddon already with the Cubs?
    Koufax told me

I think Maddon was already gone, although he was in the mix.

Kapler was, to me, not qualified enough. He was just the guy who liked to show off his pecs and abs.

Kapler was talked about being groomed in the Dodgers minor leagues as a future manager, and had the clear step up above guys. Maddon was with Tampa when Friedman came and there was a clause in Maddon’s contract that Friedman could bring him along to a new team if Friedman chose to pursue it (he didn’t)

kap was considered a shoo-in by most
but i think friedman et al decided they wanted something they could groom
someone who wouldn't question their authority
    that immediately ruled out maddon
and kap was said to have been arrogant, self-righteous and not open-minded
roberts, on the other hand... although less (read, not at all) qualified would be happy just to have the job and (thus) wouldn't question anything
    probably racist

DeGrom's agent took a teeny tiny shot at the Mets, telling them to sign his client to a long term contract or start to consider trading him. He still has two years of control, so I have a hard time seeing them trading him in season as they would probably get much more for him in the offseason. Still will be interesting to watch and see if they do shop him. They are rumored to be asking for the moon in Zack Wheeler and Steven Matz trade talks and have not been even willing to discuss DeGrom or Thor.

The Mets are almost a dysfunctional as the O's and it could be argued they are equal in ineptitude in their ownership. The Calloway hiring surprised alot of people and if it weren't for that hot start and the newness of his term he'd be fired. Losing Ces didn't help them at all but now with Matheny gone I'm sure there will be a huge uptick in demands for his job. It's NY so gives a fuck but they have to lower their demands.

Roberts is miles better than Maddon tactically, it’s not even a debate
