The Brewers barring a complete reversal of your post are going to blow it again! This team has a legit chance to make it to the WS and they're likely holding back.

Their farm is not having the best of seasons, so that could be having a negative impact since the Dodgers farm has continued it's tear of recent years that has also churned out 2, potentially 3 consecutive ROY's now. I could see how both ours and the Yankees depths are setting us apart.

Hard to say they're holding back. I know what the report says, but we're still talking about an O's org that's being run by Peter Angelos, so nothing actually has to make sense here.

I give @ColoradoKidWitGame 110% cred for even attempting to predict an O's/Machado trade yesterday. Nobody can truly follow the bouncing ball with Angelos. Wouldn't shock me if Machado wasn't traded at all, and were given a QO, netting BMore draft comp at the end of the day

I based my post on what didn't happen last year and their reported OF depth in the minors.

This from a NY Writer: "The Yankees remain an aggressive suitor for Baltimore shortstopManny Machado, but their unwillingness to offer pitching prospect Justus Sheffield could leave them behind the Dodgers and Phillies, according to major league sources. The Brewers are also involved, but are less aggressive than the other three teams. Arizona is said to be out for now."

So, things are obviously fluid... Dodgers continue to remain a name at the top with Yankees/Brewers/Phillies/Dbacks all fluctuating day by day depending on the reporter.

You don’t think Buehler’s shot is completely blown at this point?

Definitely not. There hasn't been a rookie to really take the reins yet and with the ROY it is not how you start, but how you finish. A strong back half paired with his limited, but great first half numbers and it will be hard to beat. Someone said the other day that he was probably the ROY if they voted now anyway.

Jerry Crasnick is making it sound like the Orioles have a good idea now of what their Manny deal will/would be. The thing is, there looks to be some belief that Angelos is gonna step in here soon and fuck things up as he always does. Plus execs believe Manny will be moved, but the feeling is no longer as strong as it was. The growing concerns mirror years of deals that have fallen apart under this leadership... Oh and one more thing... the O's may be planning on taking this right up to the deadline now.....

    farhan on rosscup...
    • “He’s another guy who kind of has a sneaky heater,” Dodgers GM Farhan Zaidi said. “He’s got some funk (in his delivery). He’s got a shorter arm stroke and a little bit of a three-quarters slot, which is tough for lefties to pick up. He’s 92-94 (mph). He’s got a good cutter-slider in the high 80s. He throws a split as well in the mid-80s. So he’s got some different weapons plus he’s got some velocity and some deception in his delivery. He’s always missed bats in the minor leagues. With Tony hurt and (Edward) Paredes just going down, we were sort of looking for a bit of a flyer to take on a guy from the left side. That’s an area where we feel we can improve our depth and options.”

Passan reported yesterday that multiple teams (or maybe it could have been times), the belief inside at least one FO was that they had come to an agreement with the O's on a Machado deal. Only for them to call back and be back at square one again. There is growing sentiment that the O's may not actually be serious about moving Machado or at the least not for another 2+weeks. This would explain why a couple teams that were said to be in on Manny have been in-then out-then back in again (Phillies and Braves now), while there are other teams that are probably tired of this shit and are exploring other avenues(Brewers and the Dodgers to a degree).

Dodgers now perceived to be fading in the Machado sweepstakes. Yankees, Phillies and now the Braves have all upped their offers and considered stronger than what the Dodgers will offer. Not a shock since all 3 of those systems are considered stronger than ours currently is viewed.

Anyone of those 3 except the Yanks.

Gotta hope the FO and that old fart in Baltimore are not stupid enough to trade that guy to that team in the AL East.

    Buster Olney:
Sources: Orioles making progress and narrowing their focus in the Machado trade talks. Phillies and Brewers appear to be among the finalists.

FO still not willing to give up the right players.....kinda stingy if you ask me.

On the other hand, if they go all out for BP and SP help, then I can understand. But if they don't do even that, the lack of urgency may haunt this team for awhile.

You guys realize they probably never even considered trading for Machado and this has all been a dry hump strokefest, right????

It's too good and too straightforward for the genius to consider...
