The Phillies and Marlins are making progress on a deal for J.T. Realmuto according to Morosi. Craig Mish is saying that he thinks that a deal will get done today, but does not specify a team.

Sherman is reporting that the Phillies would send Sixto Sanchez, Jorge Alfaro and other pieces. That is their #1 prospect this year, a Top 5 that graduated last year and some other prospects being mentioned are in their top 5-6 this year. That is a hefty haul.

Multiple reports now that the Phillies have acquired J.T. Realmuto for Sanchez/Alfaro and a 3rd undisclosed player. This is pending a physical which could be important with Sanchez in the deal.

While Sanchez is one of the top prospects in baseball, he missed most of last season with multiple injuries. When healthy, he's good, but there are concerns about his durability... sooooo based on their recent track record, this is blowing up in their face.

Philly needed him and in the worst way. They have nothin coming through the system. I thought they'd be all over Yasmani, but Realmuto works, at least offensively. Solid place to start before they grab Trout after next season

Well hold on.... Marlins are said to be insisting on a 3rd major prospect plus a 4th lesser prospect as well. The Phillies are struggling at the notion of taking another top 5 prospect from their system. Still seems inevitable as they are not going to probably get a better top two than that. The Braves are said to have offered the best package to date, but the Marlins do not want to work with them. Seems weird that they would trade with one team in the division, but not others. Only thing I can think of is this just makes the Phillies more competitive and not nearly as formidable as Realmuto would have made the Braves or even Mets.

Heyman is saying that Luis Garcia(BA #3, BP #5) and Spencer Howard(BA #8, BP #3) could be in talks to be the 3rd and 4th pieces.... that would be an insane package for Realmuto and makes me think the Phillies are confident that they are about to load up on some of the remaining FA's if this is how they get it done.

Those are organizational rankings.......so there is a bit of perspective that is needed here. MLB ranks only Sixto in their top 100 (#21), so adding Garcia and Howard is not necessarily that huge of a deal. MLB ranks Garcia as the Phils #14 prospect and Howard as the #18.

IMO, if Dodger MGT wanted JT they could have put together a package that would have beat the one from the Phils. I kinda wonder if they are gona play chicken in hopes of getting Harper/Machado at a much cheaper price???

Those MLB rankings you are using are still from last season, but yes those are the organizational depth charts I was citing. For this year, BA has Sanchez as the #13 and Garcia in at #88 and as expected, these numbers vary site to site. The tough thing for matching a deal of this caliber is it would definitely cost the Dodgers a solid load no matter how you look at it. Both Garcia and Howard are a bit further away than our top guys, but their ceilings are very high. Just based on some light perusing, both Howard and Garcia are considered to be prospects to watch in general going into this season. Basically a deal that I think would be close from our perspective is probably May, Barnes(more likely Smith), Downs and Gonsolin... and that could fall short in the event that the Marlins are looking at ceilings.

I would guess that the Dodgers would have to start with Verdugo but IMO they could probably get away with keeping Keibert and offering Smith with some other pitchers down the rankings. Either way it seems that MGT was not really serious about JT.

Yeah, I wasn't including Verdugo since I think there is no chance that they move him at this point unless they were confident they were getting Harper. From the way Keith Law made it seem, agree that it doesn't really sound like we were all that serious about him. Maybe if they could snag him for a song like the Brewers and Cards did, but not an overpay.
