From what I read he's all field no bat. If that's the going rate for a guy like that then Bonafacio will ask for alot.
Sorry, but leather comes around all the time. But a banger who squares up the ball is gold. Real gold. "Shake a BB tree, and a hundred gloves fall out. Maybe....maybe, one bat". That's how it always was and still is... Mind you, I don't give a shit if they buy the guy his own island in the Carribean; if the guy has Tulo potential, yeah- throw money at him... but 25 million for a slick fielder? Fucking asshole move, unless the PR that preceded him is all BS about his offense and all a diversion or something. Stockpiling slick fielders that can't hit a lick? Yeah....real genius.
maybe Guggs has the science to combine this dudes defense with Hanleys offense and create a super short stop
For now, I am going to have faith that we have not drastically overpaid for another young Juan Castro. I am going to assume that NedCo has some thoughts on this. Diaz is available very soon as are a few others. He could have waited two weeks for the tryout. Hell, he may be going to that one too. Let's give him and company a break until we know what is going on.
Gonna just rely on the Dodgers IFA scouts who uncovered Urias and Puig after other teams were worried about them. Turned out pretty good so far.

umm, yeh...here's the thing...not sure if you've noticed, but Hanley's a slugger who might be moving to 3B soon, we have pop @ 1B, we have pop in RF, we have potential pop in CF, we have occasional pop in LF, and we have potential pop @ 2B...my point is that it's OK to have 1 guy that's mainly a glove. lol especially if that 1 guy is at an impact position like SS. this is likely they're thinking because they're constructing a team...one that has lot of pitching. it's likely that they'd like a guy who can take advantage of the pitching and make plays in the field...great plays.
oddly enough...if Aruba is our future SS it would seem as though our front office is somewhat mirroring much of what Cleveland built in the mid/late-90's with their lineup. they had a lot of pop...a young stud in RF named Manny...we have Puig...and so on and so forth. but in that powerful lineup they had a little guy named Omar Vizquel in there and he didn't hurt them. in fact, he made sweet music in the field. now, Aruba may not be as good as Vizquel, but hey...let's see what he has before he's given the Dee treatment. if his defense is worth 25M right out of the gate...that's intriguing to me.
His glove alone should get him to the bigs, I'm excited for that type of defense on the field, maybe not Andrelton Simmons, but in the realm. Again that kinda defense alone should get him to The Show, I don't see a future in starting on this club with Hanley and Seager coming along, but I'm happy with the depth. 25M is more than I was expecting, but if it's over 5/6 years, it's not too bad.
so would a reasonable comp be Rey Ordonez? If he can hit better than Ordonez did and also play a similar level of defense in his prime that'd be a steal. Then again Ordonez was regarded as an 80 fielder by some so that may be stretching it for this aruba nigga
