Doesn't matter much but I think the Dodgers will go with a 6 man bench. Every year that Friedman has been here they've gone with a 11 man pitching staff and and 14 position players. It always makes sense to only have 7 bullpen arms

    • The Derek Jeter ownership group is considering removing the Marlins home run sculpture in left-center field.

Correct. '88 bunch had no business beating the Mets or the A's. That's what made it such a great story.

Ether's no more than a glorified DH if he comes back and only against RH pitching at that.

Ethier. Lol I damn near don´t even remember what he looks like.
Hell to the no on Ethier over Grandy..career and present.
Barnes´ situation, for me, might be the most intriguing of all.
Not that he´s about to play any OF right now, we know that´s not happening, but just moving forward beyond this year

Still. The last time he played regularly against RHP, he mashed. I have hope.

one of my best memories was the day of game 7
with orel going, i think every one of us knew we were going to win
9 consecutive complete games to end the season (6 straight shutouts)... yeah, that was a pretty decent run

They were saying on MLB Radio this morning that Jeter supposedly plans on bringing back an old school approach to building a franchise and will try to shy away from the analytically heavy direction that the league has become. These guys aren't huge on the analytical approach that teams have, but all 3 radio guys said that it did not work out great for Stewart and La Russa in AZ and that is what they were comparing this idea to. Everyone is still excited to see Loria out of the game, but doing something like this could really hurt a franchise like the Marlins that needs to be smart about their finances.

Jeter trying to one-up Michael Jordan apparently.

Good to hear about the sculpture though.

    old school huh?
    that would be stupid
what worked for the yankees in the late 90's/early 2000's won't work today
    player scouting/valuation has evolved significantly
but [selfishly] i'm glad he's not going to copy us

Neil Walker was a really solid grab by MIL, BTW
If Jonathan Villar isn´t careful he´ll find himself showcasing his speed tool running and fetching Walker´s slippers
Guy has been extra-atrocious this year..dear god..a .282 OBP, .223 BA, and is somehow still leading off
We need that Grandy for a PTBNL love

I think adrenaline really gets to him in his first appearances then he turns it around quickly, I believe he also got beat up in his first Spring Training game as well. Reports out of OKC are that he looked unreal last night. 28 pitches, 21 Strikes, 11 swing and misses. They've got him going every 4 days for now, doubt they close that gap before reducing him to 1 IP per appearance.

One thing about the whole Granderson talk is, I feel like they wouldn't consider making a move like that before giving Verdugo some sort of a shot. He was in a bit of a funk, but has started to turn things back on and is now 5-13, 1 HR, 3 BB and 1 K in his last 5 games.

Can´t go wrong between the 2
If fat Joc´s not going to seize the opp to be productive in the post, it´d be cool to have young Verdugo step in and get some playoff starts and production/experience under his belt for our sake moving forward beyond this year.
And then of course Grandy would probably offer the immediate jolt
Win, win..like the pattern of LAD´s season

I think Grandy would be a fantastic addition and then if Verdugo comes up in Sept and is hitting the shit out of the ball, even better. As has been said over and over again, it is WS Champs or this year is a complete failure. If you have the chance to add a guy like Granderson that will cost basically only money and probably a lower tier prospect, then you take that chance. Our bullpen is looking a bit leaky and there do not seem to be many outside options to fix that, so adding a bat that makes your 1-8 look like a wrecking crew, you take that opportunity. 2B Taylor, SS Seager, 3B Turner, CF Bellinger, LF Granderson, C Grandal, 1B AGon, RF Puig.... That's a lot to have to work through.
