Kim Ng finally lands a GM job

it’s with the Marlins but man I remember fans wanted her to take over for Colletti when he was our GM

    Long time coming

Lol 28 to 2....a tad fishy, shall we say? That was Mookie's award..led the NL in WAR and was just more impressive, but Freeman's a good guy so it's fine

He'll say whatever publicly, but I'm sure Mookie is pissed. That's just being an elite competitor. Voter fuckery likely goes on the bulletin board to keep the fire lit, which actually makes me love the results of the vote. Especially since he just got paid - before winning WS #2. Anything Mookie needs to keep the fire lit, give it to him

I wonder how much the voters take into consideration a player who has already won the award, or how likely the player is to win the award in the future. I could see some voters saying, "It's close, but this might be Freddie's only chance to win an MVP...." It's the only way I can explain R.A. Dickey winning the Cy Young over Kershaw in 2012.

I'm all about getting Lindor. There is some things to consider though.
If you ask Seager to move off of SS you can guarantee Boras will be pissed. A slugging SS is more valuable than a slugging 3B and it may cause issues.
If you ask Lindor to move off of SS we run the risk of pissing him and his agents off as well.

The Dodgers could open up 2022 without Seager, Lindor AND Lux.

If they do sign one or both then I don't see how the Dodgers can sign Bellinger and Beuhler without being a habitual tax offender.

I'm not sure the Dodgers should change strategies after winning. This is how dynasties become rebuilds.

Well let's be clear, Lindor's just better than Seager at playing SS. Superior defensively. A couple gold gloves in 6 seasons. And it's SS we're talking about, so it's pretty important. Granted that this new era of launch angle has increased the value of OF defense over the length of a full schedule. When you get to the postseason - where LAD now lives - checkers is out. It's chess at that point and your infield defense had better check out. Little stuff like an off target throw to home plate - from 20 feet away - could be the difference....Muncy still thanking god til this day that it wasn't

As for the shortened season, those comments were aimed at Seager's durability or lack thereof, and the level of confidence people should have coming out of the abbreviated year. It's just reasonable to take the truncated season into account. I don't believe a prudent exec jumps off the cliff over Seager making it through 60 games without much of a health hiccup..unless Seager wants to make a reasonable, team friendly deal, that is. Otherwise, kick the can down the road and let Seager prove he can perform the way he just did over 162..prove he can settle in, stay healthy and be a rock at SS when he doesn't have to just play essentially 1/3 of a season. Doesn't mean he won't get hurt again after completing a full slate, but at least you get to see it. Lindor is a rock, he's proven it..better with the glove and durable. Lindor is actually what a SS looks like historically. Seager's a tight end. We know that. He's passable, but the upgrade is available

If Seager is the team 1st guy we think he is, he'd eventually be fine with moving over to 3B to improve the team. He's competitive, so it'd sting initially, but he'd eventually see the big picture. He's always been mature, the old soul of the young core. And big brother Seager's done OK at the bank, manning 3B in Seattle. Little brother Seager wouldn't be heading to the poor house any time soon. Yet another reason to chase a team friendly deal with Seager - that Boras surely wouldn't like - how many other guys in MLB have a brother who's already signed a $100MM contract? Guys generally say, " now I can take care of my family " after they get the $$$, but Seager's family has been taken care of for a while now. In football, Derek Carr once took less money so that one of the top guards in the league could stay and protect him. He didn't have to do it, but one of the reasons he did is because his brother hit the jackpot years earlier as the #1 overall pick for the Houston Texans and his family was already set. Maybe Corey wouldn't see it that way, but this is the time for creativity and solutions in improving the team - a potential dynasty hangs in the balance

Whatever the case, behind closed doors, I'm sure Mookie's not tryin to hear that BS. Apex competitor. It's OK that Freeman got it, he's good and a good story. Great for us

But anything short of " Freddie Freeman has 2 months to live " is probably inadmissible for Mook Lol

Yeah, neither Seager nor Lindor would be happy about moving off of SS in a contract year. I think front offices are smart enough now that it shouldn't really hurt their payday, but the players still don't want a year away from SS on their resumé. That said, if a team has both Seager and Lindor, then Lindor is the SS. Moving Lindor to 2B would be a gross under-utilization of his talent.

Not as bad as say moving Arenado off 3B, but still very wrong. Agreed

Btw..Arenado to the AL, but where? The Tulo path to Toronto?

Could also come off looking pretty good and help your market if you're willing to switch positions and sacrifice. An agent can spin that into a positive

Pretty sure that helped Hanley land his deal in Boston. Never played an inning of SS there

I will be really intrigued to see how she handles signings and arb. She's apparently cutthroat in arb hearings, but people never come out pissed at her afterwards. I am still disappointed that she and White left, so I wish her luck. She is taking over there at the right time. I gave the Marlins massive shit for the Yelich return when everyone that was paying attention knew that Brinson was trending poorly and the rest of the package was and remains garbage, but the Cards and Phills trades since have been really solid. I'll be curious to see if she is a bit more old school since she is from the end of that old generation of GM's. Should be interesting to watch the NL East with the new ownership in NY and the budding Marlins.

Once Seager and Lindor get their big paydays they won't have as much of an issue moving to 3B or 2B.
Vampires will be happy once they get their commission.

Boras will try to spin anything into a positive. He will probably bring up Corey's Tommy John surgery as a positive as well as Corey's track record in RTTS.

If I was a high school coach at a Catholic school I would put up a big sign in the locker room on the doorway to the field/court that read FUCK YOUR STATS.
So they would read it every time out.

I still don’t know how we get Lindor, keep Seager (or re-sign Seager), re-sign Bellinger, try to keep Muncy, and our pitching core, plus manage that huge Betts contract and not bust through that luxury tax penalty for multiple years.

It doesn’t sound Friedman-esq or something the Guggs will do.

Well also be losing contracts like Kershaw and Kenley soon. I can see them bringing back CK but we’re gonna have a lot of money coming off the books next year
