We could actually lose all our free agents and still be projected to have a better team in 2021. I'm looking at the list, and there isn't a "must sign" guy.

Well, if there's one thing this postseason emphasized, it's the value of good pen. Losing Treinen, Wood, and Baez wouldn't necessarily decimate our pen, but it would require new signings to replace them. Fortunately, Friedman has a pretty good track record in finding value there.

I would just like to acquire the 1B named Cody Bellinger. They have nearly 400 games to go on now. The man's OPS is roughly 100 points higher at 1B compared to what it is in CF. Willing to sacrifice the CF theatrics for more damage at the dish and GG work at 1B

Just go find a CF in free agency. They once tried to trade Puig for Jackie Bradley Jr. Go sign Bradley Jr. He had a solid bounce back year..is Mookie's buddy, so instant fit. Find a trade for Pollock and sell while you can before the dude gets hurt again

So annoying how he left and was immediately brilliant for the Rays in a year we were DYING for anything out of the pen. We could have really used him in the playoffs.

He showed last year that he can play the OF and still mash. This year in a SSS at 1B he was terrible, so the data is starting to even out that the position is not the issue. I think at first it was as he was learning a new position on the fly, but he is used to it now and his defense in CF is truly elite. Cody altered his mechanics during the back end of the shutdown as this was talked about numerous times and when they rushed to get everything going he got himself behind and never recovered. This shit can happen and derail a season, especially one like this one where it was hectic with no ability to give him a a week off to work on things. Comfort is no longer the issue and with the way he plays CF, it shouldn't be. Also, due to his shoulder issues now, they do not want him to play 1B all that often.

.850 OPS, slugging .500 in CF this year. I have higher aspirations for him

It's really only CF, where the decline in production occurs, I mean. Add to the numbers above a .240 or .245 avg from this season. Don't like it.

He did really well at the plate while in CF in '19, but of course it was small tastes of CF. Not the everyday grind. Was still 100 pts better OPS-wise at 1B in '19. May be safe to assume RF is out with Mookie on board

The thing is though, I know that come playoff time next year I want Cody in CF, so why not keep him there the whole year. There were multiple plays that he made look easy in the WS that most other guys out there let fall and shift the series in a whole new direction, and we saw first hand how having a different guy in game 4 literally basically cost us a game or at least a chance at it. There was that gapper late in game 7 where he just ranged over and caught on the run but I bet 8 out of 10 guys make that catch look very difficult if they even get there at all. Plus we’re probably not even having this fun euphoric conversation if he doesn’t catch that Tatis home run. I’d like to think he’s enough of an athlete to not be so drastically affected offensively by playing one position vs another. The guy was absolutely made to gallop around out there, and its pretty special to see.

Love his defense in CF, and his athleticism is best suited for CF instead of 1B without question

Its not like he's the only player in baseball that makes that play though. Big appreciation but guys just need the opportunity. I'm hoping they find that guy so Cody can do what he does @ 1B offensively. Got the DH now..that shit has Muncy's name on it

Like I said, his mechanics were a mess this year. It would not have mattered what position he played.

Say we did move him to first base, and get some defense-first CF who *might* provide the same value defensively. Cody’s hitting is only going to be marginally better than who he replaces at first. It doesn’t make sense numbers-wise either in terms of building a lineup

WOW, the Indians have placed Brad Hand on outright waivers. Hand was excellent this season before a horrific outing in the wild card round. If someone picks him up it would cost them $10M in 2021. Ok, yeah Dodgers need to pounce on this one.

Roberto Osuna was also waived by the Astros this morning. He is not expected to be much of a factor in 2021 due to injury concerns.

I'll be holding out hope, that one day he'll fix whatever issues he has so he can take CF everyday @ MVP level. Either way, won't be the end of the world if they're winning

True, throwing haymakers at wifey can’t be easy on the throwing arm.

I would love to see them find another superior athlete to play in LF. Having Mookie and Belli out there is awesome to watch with the reads and grabs they make. Could only imagine what another guy like that in LF could mean for our club. While Taylor is fun out there, his reads off the bat aren't as solid. Both Pederson and Pollock were ok at that, but I did not like how often they'd pull up and take a ball off a hop when you knew our other two OF'ers likely caught the ball on the run.

gonna be almost impossible to know what anyone can/can’t do cause of financials

10 mil for Hand is typically obvious! Especially since we can basically replace Treinen this year with that but uh... who knows if we’re gonna need a huge drop off on payroll, at which point Friedman is gonna have to go super cheap in bullpen since we have a couple position players we’ll need to buy

    who cares were champs

I'll add that for the Dodgers to get Hand, he would have to pass through waivers with every other team first.

Yup and Walter coming out and saying that they lost a fortune this year does not help the outlook. I don't even know if they will now be able to trade the guys they could to free up payroll in Pollock, Jansen or Price due to everyone else and their cost cutting
