poor Doug Rau. Loved hearing Helen Dell in the background. Beats the shit out of today's manufactured noise. Tommy knew what he was doing in this case. https://www.baseball-reference.com/boxes/LAN/LAN197710150.shtml
"You got three left handed hitters and they all got F**** hits off you. Jackson and...the f**** other guy..." lmao
I'm nervous as f**** about tomorrow night's game. The stakes are high. A victory pretty much seals the deal.
it's a big game for both teams a swing game... a win puts us in a near-unbeatable [3-0] position like you said whereas a loss would put the cubs [2-1] right back in the series hendricks is good but not unbeatable our guys need to stick to the same plan... seeing a lot of pitches, making the pitcher work darvish doesn't need to be perfect, just keep us in the game if it becomes a bullpen game we have a huge advantage all that said, i'm nervous too
I still can’t decide what I’d want the lineup to be. Culberson’s first two games, and his defense, are giving me recency bias on wanting him to start at SS with Taylor in CF and Granderson in LF. But Joc starting in CF has higher offensive upside, with the downside that he might strike out 5 times. Game 3 I’ll give Roberts the benefit of the doubt as to whatever lineup he decides cause he’ll know how the players feel better than we do, and he has more info available.
Would really like to see Andre. I guess the team knows his limitations but he has great At Bats and is a better hitter than Granderson.
Yeah from hearing Roberts and what the reporters are saying, seems like they don’t think Andre should be out there defensively. Does seem odd that he hasn’t had an at bat yet though
that's right, i forgot my (older) cousin went to usc so we always got free tickets got to see a lot of the mckay teams; anthony davis et al
fwiw, here's a better version of gibson scoring from 2b i really miss don drysdale (still my favorite dodger ever) listen to his excitement -- it was like having a fan in the booth was the same way on his call of gibson's hr against eck ...
Man, I gotta admit that I am incredibly nervous for tonight's game. Feels like it will be the difference between 3-0 and going home 2-3. Darvish coming in tonight and dealing, with our offense hoping to capitalize on the results of game 2 would be great. Feel like Darvish being for real or not is the difference from us being a contender or a pretender. The Cubs come in and beat him up, or the offense doesn't show up for the second game in a row and I will begin to be legit nervous. Neither team has had much experience, nor much luck against the opposing pitcher so it will probably be a tight game. Outside of his last start, Hendricks had been on a fucking roll, so it is not likely that he has two straight games like that. Working counts and knocking him out before the 6th is over should be the goal. He works deep and that could be trouble beyond just tonight as it will allow their bullpen the extended rest they desperately need. Hold their feet to the fire, fucking win tonight and make them have to run through our big 3 one more time to win this fucking thing!
a swing game for sure wouldn't call it a must win, but imo definitely the most important game of the season thus far you could make an argument that whoever wins this game probably wins the series and while the "wait til we get back to wrigley" talk from edwards/heyward is annoying i think that's what they really believe 100% it's our job to prove them wrong a big first inning would be huge -- take the crowd out of it immediately, hold our momentum, and put doubt into the cubs minds
Cubs are loading up the lefties against Darvish and sacrificing some defense in the IF for a groundball pitcher 2B Zobrist LF Schwarber Bryant Rizzo Contreras CF Jay Russell Heyward
I'm not worried at all. Winning both at home gives us a lot of cushion, so losing won't be the end of the world. But these first two games haven't been as close as the scores show. The Cubs have had a total of 6 players in scoring position in 2 games, the Dodgers have had 17 players in scoring position in the same time. The Cubs made a number of great defensive plays last game, which props to them for making those plays, but I think it shows the Dodgers have been inches from really blowing a game wide open. One of these next two games things will fall our way, and we are going to win one with an 8-2 type score. It's clear we are the better team. If that's not enough, my daughter turned 2 weeks old today, and the Dodgers haven't lost a game in her lifetime. So I expect that trend to continue.
