    Utley has shown himself as every bit the veteran presence as one could ask
    the highest of competitiveness yet always respectful team mate friendly, clubhouse leader and media savvy with a home team focus. Gotta give props.

    His D is a half/ three quarters step slow but the vast intangibles lift him up, far up above the others

    your basic point? Yep Uggh.. but my confidence in Utley coming through in the clutch gives him the solid nod



    and

    he has a RING. He knows.
    No BS, no hype, always as much performance as he can muster, always thinking ahead, NEVER loses game focus. And, he won before.

    BFD. Big.

    not like corey has been ripping the cover off the ball lately while playing gold glove defense
    yes we're losing a primary player, but it's just one guy
    this is a team
    cubs [still] have a bigger problem with their rotation/pen
    we are still the better team
    we play to our capabilities, we still win

    The only problem with that theory is that If he came back and had to be replaced they can't use him in the World Series or something to that effect.

    "Seager also would’ve been ineligible for the World Series if he’d been removed from the NLCS roster due to injury."

    If the reg season was any indication the LAD offense is going to suck without Seager in the lineup
    That said, again, next man up
    Glad the pitching is set up..arms may have to carry them

    Good points but I still think he is our glue guy and that we are fucked!!!!! When he's there the line-up is so long it's ridiculous. Plus the momentum we gained and the momentum the Cubs lost with the travel problems just became moot. Just my .02

    there's almost always some guy who has an unexpected hero postseason
    could be a guy like kiké or culberson

    another thing...
    corey missed 6/7 games from 6/24-6/30
    we still won 5 of those 7 while outscoring our opponents 39-14

    Corey wasn't exactly hitting the cover off the ball.

    Really important player, no doubt, but a lot of us suspected his play dipped due a lingering elbow issue before this news.

    Clearly this is a huge blow. Our Zips projection shifted from us winning the series to us losing. But one scrub playing out of their mind for a week cancels it out.

    Maybe he'll be back for game 3?

    Just trying to find a way to be pumped again.
