I didn't see the play to know if it would've made a difference, but there's no reason not to hustle on every play. But 3 for 4, an OF PO, and the walk-off, I think all's good with SVS. Edit: Also the hustle into second on the OF bobble was the difference in a run scoring, so that's got to count for something.
He saw the situation, he tagged and should've scored easily and shouldn't have had a reason to go any faster than he was other than Pederson being a complete bonehead. Pederson should not have gone more than halfway (on a ball hit to RF nonetheless ) and should have had plenty of time to get back to the base.
There's no doubt about that. Like Christian Yelich made up for the error that put us ahead with his HR. No trouble with SVS, I've always liked the guy. You just hustle all the time. That's what I believe, and how we played as kids. Pete Rose was a brute and a grunting troglodyte...but he played full out, every minute. I believe that should be every player's effort. IMO, an error of commission, like Pederson's, comes from the fact that he wanted to score, and was trying to get an edge to do it. SVS was an error of omission, not doing what he had to do to get the run in. I don't find them equal...however, both errors.
IDK if there is overall video or anything available to give an verall look at the whole play. The cameras were on Giancarlo, who as we know, made that incredible catch. The other video showed SVS just barely trotting in, and IMO, he could have scored, especially if running all out, since the catch by Stanton took him a ways back away from the play, with his huge body momentum...I think he could've scored. Just my tuppence, but there's no Billy Martin's anymore. Gotta hustle.
good points bz my college coach used to say he would never get upset with a physical error as long as full effort was given but a mental mistake or not hustling would get you on the pine forget how many outs, throw to a wrong base, not run to first... he'd yank you right then and there

Thanks for moving those posts to where they should have been. My fault, absolutely, for not hustling.
