kasten & co are typical owners who talk out of both sides of their mouths they don't care about us fans; only the revenue that comes from us maximum profit; minimal spending "our goal is to win a championship every year" what a fucken crock of shit that was if that were truly your goal you would have gotten a cueto/price/hamels instead of a second tier scrub like latos and improved the bullpen fucken assholes
Seems to me like Friedman and his prospect nut hugging is more of an issue than kasten. Isnt kasten helping write that 300 mil payroll check?
It might be true of Friedman also, but Kasten is the biggest prospect hugger in the org. Proof is that the last years a lot of prospects, even mid-tier, were labeled as untouchable from Kasten, and he's openly said he loves to keep them all. Also don't think Kasten writes checks for the team
One of the more worrisome outcomes of this prospect heavy emphasis is that even if you call all these guys up, they will be going through an adjustment period. They all do. It takes a few seasons of regular play to work out the kinks and have them play together as a team. So you're already pushing the timeline back years down the road. Then you need a new crop of veterans and FA to round out the team. The current crop we have are pretty much on the tail end of their careers (I'm talking A-Gon, Kendrick, Ethier, Rollins, etc). So now you then have to piece together a new roster and have them play together. Then the issue is will pitchers like Kershaw still have his stuff 5 years from now? Will we lose Greinke? Will he be up to stuff? Do we have to rebuild our SP staff from scratch? All these are huge variables with long time lines. I just wonder whether the FO is treating this team like stock with a long position, rather than thinking like traders that look for opportunities then pounce. Are these guys out smarting themselves and making easy decisions really really hard?
Yes, and that's why my friend called me that...it's my given name and my friend claimed nothing (work issues, fault, blame, etc) ever stuck to me.
