Busy week. I'm so happy the first game starts at 5:09 instead of 5:08.

I will not break from my tradition this postseason, therefore I have us losing in 6.

Dodgers announce game 1 Clayton Kershaw, as expected. He has no excuses to not give us a damn good outing, and we can’t start the series with a short outing by him. We’re gonna need 6, minimum, especially with a provable game 2 bullpen game. Cement 2020 with a good outing tomorrow. Rays are a much better matchup for Kershaw compared to the Braves, there’s no “we’re down in the series” pressure... just need him to lock down but you know whay? If he fucks up, we move on to game 2

Hate to sound like I'm making excuses, but hopefully wind will not be a factor again tomorrow. If you throw straight heat in the mid to upper 90's, you don't care about wind like they had in game 4. If you rely on movement and pinpoint accuracy, it's a different story.

I could see them adding Ruiz with the way that they used Smith and Barnes. Wood has to be gone at this point and I would not be shocked if they were to drop Kolarek too to bring in Gore. The off days give us flexibility and depending on how they line up the rotation, we really could go Buehler/Kershaw/Urias to start 2 each like that ESPN piece had and using Gonsolin/May duo in game 4 would also allow the club to insert them elsewhere with less repercussions.

I would go into Game 1 saying we need 4 innings from Kershaw, and see how it goes.

    We need 4.
    We hope for 6.
    We want 8.

I voted for Kershaw to have a good WS, just to watch @VRP flip to being a huge Kershaw fan.

I posted this in the other thread, but this figures to be the starters for the Rays. The ESPN article agrees - it's fairly predictable based on their rotation in the ALCS.

    Projected starters:

    1 - Glasnow RHP
    2 - Snell LHP

    3 - Morton RHP
    4 - Yarbrough LHP
    5 - Glasnow RHP

    6 - Snell LHP
    7 - Morton RHP

Jose Alvarado is their lefty with the best stuff for sure. Nasty moving two seamer from the left side at 98-99. BUT he’s had inconsistent results and tons of walks. High K’s, high walks, but if he’s commanding his pitches, he’ll eat everyone up

Aaron Loup is more of your traditional LOOGY. A guy who is good against lefties in a traditional sense I guess: ks lefties about 20%+ of the time, has good stuff against them but not something SUPER crazy out of the ordinary. Their other lefty relievers are rather young and, good stuff

Alvarado is the wild card for sure. Again, unreal stuff (mostly his fastball) but been inconsistent. Their right handed relievers are more than capable of eating up both sides though

I have no expectations on a CK start. In fact, I’m fully prepared that we may have to fight back from an 0-1 deficit.

Then again, fighting back from behind (teed that you for you Irish) seems to have worked out well for us.

Let Kershaw go five and then trust the pen

unless he’s having an amazing game take him out before the 6tg

Anyone else feel a little more relaxed entering this after what just happened vs Atlanta?

I'm sure I will change my tune but 3 elimination games in a row with a tight game 7 has made the start of the WS feel less nerve-racking than it normally would for me

hard not to, even though we shouldn’t. Beating a god damn GOOD Braves team, who were firing on all cylinders, and coming back from the brink with 3 just almost perfect games... hard to not feel good. A series where it’s gonna take more than 1 loss to bring me down

the Rays are super good but I feel oddly confident in our pitchers to shut them down. Their pitching is what scares me the most but if our hitters can find a way to hit their velocity out of the park, watch out. I’m looking for a big series from some boppers. It’s not gonna take rallies and loads of singles to win, their pitching/defense too good for that, and there’s no moral victories in getting their starting pitcher out early, that’s what they want anywyas. It’s gonna take home runs IMO

    but let’s see

Yeah, I think there's no denying that Atlanta/San Diego have better offenses than Tampa by a decent margin but Tampa's pitching does pose a unique challenge. Glasnow has given up 12 HRs his last 7 starts and Snell hasn't gone past 5 innings this whole year and be very walk friendly. While both guys have nasty stuff, they're very beatable.

I'm kind of expecting a game 1 loss. That doesn't really have anything to do with Kershaw. More that Tampa has had an extra day rest, and Dodgers will be likely coming off their euphoria from game 7 - I could see the bats being flat. Their pen is good but was taxed last series. Would be nice to get to it early to keep them from being fresh the whole series, but I don't have high hopes.

In other words, a game one win would be like playing with the house's money, in my opinion. Hope it happens.
